Steering making noise (2019 CX-9). Any ideas?

I know the TSB says to replace the steering column, but they are blaming a bolt getting loose, it sounds like torque and loctite could maybe solve the problem?

Mazda lately seems to replace items instead of repairing them. This is what happened with the infotainment screen, they replace the complete screen with a 1500$ module, when the fix is a 30$ digitizer that can be purchased online.

TSB 06-004/23 says, "Some customers may complain about a creaking noise coming from the steering column while driving. A steering column nut loosens due to excessive load when driving on irregular roads. To eliminate this concern, the tightening torque for the steering column nut has been increased."

We don't know if the replacement steering column has the fastener that can accept a tighter torque without stripping the threads. That may be the reason for the complete replacement. I would not increase the torque on the old unit, but do use loctite.

I havent increased the torque, and a needle tip of locktite should be fine in my personal opinion, otherwise just get in the habit of tightening it back up every few months if you have a load of dirt roads

just saw a video on YouTube with cx5, i have the same issue it started yesterday , i will definitely get my tools out and try to tighten the bolt i will let yall know if it worked , wish me luck
It's fairly simple it's a little tough to get a wrench in there, I found it simplest to finger tighten, then spin the steering wheel and finger tighten as it backs off until it's tight. Then just the tiniest of turns with the wrench.

Just a bump

Could someone direct me to a video or somewhere that explains how to get to the jam nut in question. My girlfriend’s CX-9 has started to make the same clicking sound when turning, but I’m not the most technical savvy. Thanks in advance!
Meee too please. I'm having the same issue and I'm lost on what to do here

HI everyone, i took my car in to the dealer for an oil change back in Dec just to get that 21 point inspection they do while doing the oil change. my steering wheel also had the noise and the tech noticed it and he mentioned something in video of a loose screw that was tightened ,(FREE) i cant find the video that they send you before the car gets serviced for approval. hope this helps
