Steering humming sound

My 2014 2.0 CX5 iSport makes a humming sound when turning the steering. In other cars I've seen this when the power steering fluid is low, but I understand CX5 has electric assistance and no power fluid.

Am I correct? What can it be then?

Yes, my 2020 cx5 does this when turning quickly from lock to lock. Have been informed by dealer that is ‘normal’ for electric power steering. Unsure whether it is the motor and/or gear/pinion drive assembly. Strange how mazda decided to put motor in cabin.

I own two vehicles with electric PS, neither one makes humming sound. But had a buzzing sound (2015 MDX) when turned too fast to either side. It was taken care of by software update.

If the humming sound is directional, increase or decrease as speed changes, suspect the wheel bearing.
