Start-X Remote start review (2019 CX-9 GT)

Got it, iData start 6,000 foot 2 way remote start from Best Buy.

If still on sale, I will probably get it for 2 different vehicles 😀

Good thing about Best Buy doing the install, is that if either vehicle is sold, that remote start is coming out and with me to the next vehicle. $50 is a bargain, and no way I would get it going as quick.

THANKS YOU, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Hopefully you get a good installer! I have a friend who installs 2-way remote starts on the side, and he often posts pictures of the horrible install jobs he's had to fix from various installers around the city. I only have one experience with a big box shop installation, and it was to wire in and tune a LOC and a subwoofer to the existing factory system in my 2008 Lexus IS250 (no factory sub). The first installer must have done something wrong because the sub didn't sound as good as I hoped it would, so I brought it back the following week and a different installer happened to be there. That installer got everything dialed in correctly and sounding 5x better.

Riviving this thread with a really important question.

I have the start-x remote start installed in my 2020 CX9 and recently I drove to a store and left the car engine running, got out, closed the door and attempted to lock the car with the fob lock button so I can run into the store quick and come right back in 2 mins. ( I did not use the remote start at all) To my surprise it did lock the car with engine still running and I went into the store. When I came out 2 minutes later, I attempted to unlock the car with the fob unlock button and there was no response to the car. I've been attempted to press the button on the handle to unlock and again there was no response to the car. Every door was locked except for the hatch which opened with the button on the bottom of the hatch itself. Keyfob buttons were dead ( but lit up) and so was button on handle. I had to crawl in through the back hatch and open the door to get back in normally. WTAF.

Additionally, I was able to reproduce this several times by being inside the car, starting it, using the fob lock button to lock the doors while inside and attempting to unlock using the fob. The unlock button on the fob did nothing. The button on the handle outside did nothing( window was rolled down). AND the inside lock/unlock button on the door itself ONLY worked one direction to lock. There was no response when pushing it to unlock. I then shut the car off and restarted and now the inside buttons worked again. I attempted to duplicate again and again and it happened the same every time.

Does anyone with or without the remote start X installed have this issue? If stock vehicle, can you lock the door with the fob button with engine running?

My fob battery is new as well as my 12v battery. I'm trying to diagnose if this issue is a bad body control module or if the aftermarket remote start has anything to do with the vehicle behavior before taking it in to the dealer under warranty (extended)

This is really dangerous and unacceptable in any vehicle.

Thanks all for your insight!!
