Squeeks, rattles, clunks all driving me nuts!

Okay, I've got 6000 miles now and my car is a symphony of annoying noises. The passenger seat squeeks and chirps over bumps. The rear suspension crashes and clunks over sharp cracks, it might be the interior hatch lid I'm not sure. The front cowl still creaks despite attempts to fix it. It also sounds like the center console sometimes squeeks under the handbrake.

The front cowl is a known issue but does anyone know how the HELL to shut the clunking rear noises and the squeeking from the passenger seat? Its all seriously detracting from the enjoyment of driving the car, something I used ot have but now its a nuasance to drive. I really hope its not the rear endlinks coming loose because I HATE going to the dealer and I've been there too many times already.

Search and you'll find that many people in the colder climates are having noises.

Ultimately, it's a car, and a performance car at that. Deal with it, or next time don't expect much out of a really nice $23k car that goes like stink and happens to make noise in the colder weather.

Some have reported the rear endlink nuts/bolts being loose. Some Loctite and re-tightening have been the remedy for the clunking for folks. And like you said, you could bring it back to the dealer since it's so new. The passenger seat squeak; does it occur when someone is sitting there with the seatbelt buckled? If so, some WD-40 on the bolt to the belt slot fixed my rattle/squeaking. And there's a home fix for the dash ticking noise.

I did search but couldn't find anything on the seat or rear end. Also, the seat squeeks even when its hot in the car (interior squeek), and the presence of a passenger doesnt seem to affect it.

I'll defintely try lubing the seatbelt parts. I'm not exactly sure where the sound is coming from other than somewhere under the seat or inside the console. Hard to drive and put my ear to the ground simulteneously, might end up with a loud crunch and a deductable payment.

As for the endlinks, it would be super awesome to have a how to writeup in the appropriate section of the forum. I have no idea where to find them on this car. A picture would help tons, although I know I'm asking for a lot here.

And if you want the fix to the windshield, PM me since the link is to the other Mazda forum. I got mine fixed at the dealer and so far the noise hasn't come back (after three months). But the dealer fix has been hit or miss amongst owners. Here was my final update on it.

Np. I never got my cowl rattle fixed because they were out of the tabs, and I didn't care enough to have those guys start ****** with my car.

I hear that, this rear clunking nonsense started shortly after getting the stabilizer bar collar bushings replaced by the dealer.

I got the cowl rattle as well. But I really don't feel like having the wrench monkeys at the dealership dig into my dash. So the rattle is going to stay. It adds petina to the car? And I can only hear it when my music is off and windows are up and car is cruising <2,000 RPM.

When I strip the interior and make it a full blown race car... I wont have to worry about the rattle... :dodgy:

The rear link is the passenger side one. There is a TSB for it or you can simply get an Allen Wrench and Wrench that fits the nut and tighten it yourself as you don't need to lift the car and can just crawl under the back and fix the issue in about 5m. I would recommend some lock-tight on it or it will just loosen up on you again.

The squeak in the seat is where the seat-belt meets the floor. You can simply put some grease on it. In my case it was the plastic cover rubbing and I simply cut it.

This car simply squeaks more than any other car I have owned. My RX8 does not squeak at all.

This is a performance car....it will sqeak and make noise from time to time. Way different from an Evo...which does it all the time.(eyeballs)

dealer inserted the felt tabs, but then forgot to put back one of the bolt covers on the cowl. tabs seems to have done the trick.

My rear end clunk sound came back recently. The dealer fixed it once already, I would like to pinpoint what exactly is causing the sound so I can fix it myself rather than taking it to the dealer.

did you resolve the passenger seat? Did you check the seat buckle ... I am not sure what it is called but the mechanism that extends the seat belt up to the edge of the seat squeaks over bumps. Not a big deal. I bet that's it.

All this used to drive me nuts but as long as my motor doesn't get tired I'll be happy now.
