Squeek Near Back Seat Head Rest On Passenger Side

:
2015 Mazda CX-5 Sport 2.0L
We've had our 2015 CX-5 Sport FWD 2.0 L for about 2 weeks and are very happy with one exception --- this one annoying squeek. Whenever we go over a bump in the road, we hear a squeek that sounds like a bird chirping. We've sat in the back seat to try and find the squeek (it sounds like it's coming from over your right shoulder when sitting on the passenger side), but we've had no luck. Has anyone else had this problem and found a cure for it? Thanks for your time!

The logical place for a squeak like that to be coming from is the rear seat latch located at the outside rear of the seat back where it grabs the metal ring attached to the body structure. Apply a little grease to the metal ring and see if that quiets it.

Does it do it with the seat folded -- you might want to give it a try.

I had a really bad squeak when someone was sitting on the right rear seat. I fixed it by putting some extra foam around some of the metal support rods in the bottom of the seat. That fixed the problem. I was able to replicate the noise by performing CPR on the bottom cushion. I have a post somewhere with some pictures. Not sure if that's your issue, but maybe something to look at.

EDIT: Here's the link to my post, with picture.

Today we folded both rear seats down and went for a drive --- the squeak did not go away. Prior to folding the seats down, we shook the seat backs to try to cause the squeak --- no luck. After we folded the seats back up, one of us rode in the rear seat and seemed to have determined that the squeak is coming from around the small window above the right rear quarter panel. We pushed on the plastic panels that cover this area, but again, we were not able to initiate the squeak. Any more ideas anyone? Perhaps I should consider taking it back to the dealer and ask that they troubleshoot this annoying squeak. Any further help would be appreciated!

The squeak turned out to be a bad shock absorber at the rear on the passenger side. Good troubleshooting by Crystal Automall in Green Brook, NJ!

A bad shock on a 2015?! (boom04) Thats not a good sign. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope yours was just an anomaly.
