Something that made me question?????

:
2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3
I was watching the SPEED channel the other night and they had the KONI series street tuner class race on. I didnt see not 1 MS3 in that race. I was kinda dissapointed. There were however several RX-8 and MX-5's. Along with about 4 different Honda/Acura models, 2 different BMW models, VW GTI, at least 2 NEW turboed Cobalts and even a MINI Cooper S. Where is the love in that series? With the competition that I just mentioned, you cant tell me that the MS3 dosent belong in there with them. Did anyone else see that race?

i was thinking the exact same thing as i was watching it ...

even though there wasn't a MS3 in there it was still fun watching the SI, GTI, Mini, and 8s

MS3 would kick some ass in that race ...

might be rules or no one wanted to track a ms3 or they are scared of the almighty mazda (probably not).

i think if you put the mazdaspeed 3 in that class. stock, it pretty much dominates all of those contenders. So modded, it might not be much of a race.

Why the hell isn't our car EVER in any g/d car mags or TV shows for that matter? We get the shaft and HONDA keeps getting the reach around.

either way I am bummed that i did not catch that race. I was pretty much under impression that Speed Channel had given up to the Nascar dark side and was pretty much useless for enjoyable viewing.

Ya they do follow nascar heavily, but I dont enjoy when the Rolex series is on though. So much more interesting to watch. The only real interesting race in nascar that I really enjoyed was the last track race at infineon raceway I think it was.

According to this the manufacturer only has to produce a minnimum of 500 units per year. I think the MS3 fits that. So limited production is out the window.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the other guys were saying limited production to mean that since they are a very limited run, most ppl won't have as many parts to mod a mazdaspeed3 compared to say an rx8, honda, or gti.

But then again, a turbo'd Cobalt is pretty new too.. so i dunno why our car isn't out their kicking ass. (shrug)

I would say its because our car weighs alot more then all those cars you just mentioned.. If im not mistaken the cars need to fit certain specs.

im going to go with the simple awnser no one wanted to campain that car in that serries.

The only response that I have gotten back from thier own forums seems to point to exactly what dkswim said!! I knew I could count on Doug to give me a good answer!!!! LOL With that being said, lets all get together and start a team LOL!!!!!

(Simply because no one has built one for the series yet. I don't believe Grand Am even has a rule set made yet for the MS3.

Generally the way it works, is someone decides they want to run a particular car, and before they start building it, they work with the GA officials to define a ruleset for the car to make it competitive with the rest of the field. Basically it comes down to the fact that someone has to decide to put in the money time and effort to put a program together. )
