ok.. here we go again..

I go get a nice dinner with my girlfriend.. we go out to my car.. of course, it doesn't start.

This is nothing new, it's happened many times before. Nothing gets left on, it doesn't always do it. The first time the dealer replaced the battery for me.. the second time they did jack and said there wasn't a problem. This is the 8 or 9th time this has happened. It doesn't even make a sound.. just..click.

The battery isn't completely dead, the remote doors work, the lights work, the radio works.. it just doesn't start. If I get a jump, it'll be fine for a while.

I was going to just have it towed to the dealer but it was like 9 at night. I can't even begin to tell you how irritating this is. IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY!

I've done no mods.. (thank god my sterio install got delayed or they'd blame that)..

Now what's different tonight.. is that after shifting in and out of park a few times (it's an auto/stick).. it started up fine.

WTF?!?!?!

Any ideas? If the dealer tells me one more time that there isn't a problem I'ma smack em' and sell the car heh.. I love this car..but I don't have this kinda patience..

Ok, I'm done ranting now.. any ideas people?

Kyle

oh dear starts like transmission problem! Since automatic cars only starts with gear in P or N if the transmission is able to shift to Park correctly, or the module is not detecting it correctly, the ECU will only know the transmission is in Reverse, next time when it happens, do the same thing you did again, and if that didn't work after 1 or 2 try, try shift it to N and see if it starts.

And take it to another dealer, say the same thing to us to them and suggest them to check out the transmission, and if they don't do jack, write up a letter and complain to Mazda USA, it works for someone here in the board before.

Good advice. I wa going to say the same thing. Its the neutral saftey switch.... That sucks but it is something for other auto drivers to keep in mind like myself.. TTY

Sound like a candidate for The Lemon Law. Been in that many times for the same thing but still not fixed. Might be a route to look into. If nothing else it might light a fire under the dealers ass to really chekc it out and get it fixed right.

you have to have it in for something major...i think they wont honor battery dying...like wheel falling off would prolly qualify

either that or it needs to be worked on at the dealer for 15 consecutive days

THEN the dealer has one last chance to fix it.

ok, when i take it to the dealer tomorrow.. should I go through the hassel of putting my passenger side door panel back on, and putting the head unit all the way back in? (in the midst of an audio install)

Every state has different Lemon Laws. Some are more strict than others. Depending on the state he is in it may help.

I would go for the lemon law. Check if they will try to do something about it if not get a lawyer and give it back.

Lemon Law is an avenue to go, but before embarking into such journey you should consider trying different dealership, and writ directly to MazdaUSA, the thing is this particular problem could be one faulty part in the transmission instead of the whole thing but we don't really know.

If you consult an attorney you are basically giving up 1/3 of your car to him as their fee are pretty high, and you probably ain't getting it back unless you sue Mazda, which can drag on months to years, and besides, some lawyers don't even know what they are really doing, trust me on this one as I deal with them all the time...

Give Mazda NA a call and b**** at them. You got a new car that you can't even start!!! Drop it off at the dealer and get a free rentals. Better yet when the next time it dies on you, call Mazda Roadside assistance and make them tow the car to dealer!!

yeah, I had taht problem a few time before with my nissan

make sure the stick is on "P" ....

i had the same problem in my automatic p5.. it would totally die.. i would screw around with it long enough and it would get fixed.. i took it to the dealer (and did not get a loaner -=()
it ended up being something called a fussible link? i dont know what the hell it is and icant remember where it is at anymore but you may want to bring that up to the dealer.

If the car starts when you get a jump then I don't see how it can be the transmission... The car is obviously leaking current somewhere or you have a bad connection to the battery. We had a Chevy Malibu with the exact same problem, sometimes it just wouldn't start. We had the ECU flashed, we checked the battery. It came back! Turned out it was just the cables...

Just take it back and get a new one. You'll just be wasting your $$$$$ trying to get it fixed!!!!

you know, I have a feeling you have something installed in the car thats sucking up juice you haven't told us about yet...
