My turbo spouts black black smoke when it kicks in. I tend to baby the car in day to day driving. I use whatever kind of oil the manual recommends and I changed it myself. I did not know about the cool down recommended for turbos so i just tend to shut mine off, but like i said i rarely drive it hard. Could this be happening because i shut my car off so quickly after driving? Have I damaged my turbo? Please advise!

Black smoke is not oil at least im pretty sure.

Sounds to me like you might be running rich?

maybe. letting the car idle a little bit after running it hard helps prevent any oil coking in the lines and bearing cartridges.

but than would not necessarily mean your turbo is smoking. i think in most cases it does it at idle if you have smoking turbo. do you have that? or is it just at acceleration?

as krgwpoiueaia;d already stated. you could be running excessively rich. if so, why? is the car stock or modified?

this is not oil....this is running rich and burning fuel.
