Slavage Yards for body parts??

Ok so I have a 2002 Protege DX. Body styling is a little bland and I want to spice it up a little. Most body kits are a little too low for my taste and for driving year round in upstate NY. I like the looks of the MP3 conversion kit but i dont want to spent a butt-load of money.
Someone suggested to me to check out some salvage yards to pick these pieces for cheap. Has anyone had any experience in getting body pieces from salvage yards??

Get your self a from bumper from a Protege 5 it's the same as the mp3 exept the side markers on the bumper. And if you take a bumper from a mp3/speed/protege 5 be aware that you'll have to change your bumper insert (I don't know if it's the right name)
