Nice pics, but its a shame you had to learn your first day on man made snow.

My first (and only) ski trip was to Sugar Mountain. I used to live in Boone/Blowing Rock. Do you know what the base was? They generally shoot to be open for Thanksgiving weekend. That area gets about 30-40" of snowfall per year. So if you get lucky, you can get a top layer of real snow. Only problem with Sugar (and Beech and Appalachian) is that the runs are so short. You spend more time waiting in line than skiing. Still fun though, glad you had a good (and injury-free) time.

ya i grew up on east coast snow, mostly man made but some trips to vermont. now i board west coast and it is totally diffrent, i love powder :) i used to ride a 146 which did great for tricks, freeride on the ny hardpack. i tried to use that board here and it sucked......... allright i am done.........looks like it was fun and it seems that i will miss the entire season almost so u posting pics depressed me...u bastard!!

btw that base looks bad, not good snow coverage at all. mt baker has 72" right now (claiming to have the worlds deepest base right now)

Sugar Mtn. is great for beginners. That is the first place I have ever gone. Looking forward to visiting my sister in Denver and riding on the good snow.
