silencer = buzzing sound

I just got my corksport silencer in the mail today and it has the most horrable buzzing sound that is 4 times as loud the sound of the exhaust, I made sure that I tightend down the nut all the way and I even tried adding a rubber washer to prevent that from buzzing, still no luck. Has anyone eles had this problem b4 and is there a cure for it?

Ps. I did try wrapping it in ducttape to see if that was the prob still made buzzing sound.

Well thanks in advance.

don't wrap it with ductape coz' the heat will melt it off.... you can trust me on this because I'd wrapped it with the ductape and it is making a whole s*** of mess inside the tip. and they are hard to remove..

I am having the same problem too with my iON exhaust, but then I will wouldn't be able to figure out how to get rid of the annoying sound unless I take it off I guess...

silencers kill hp... just take it off unless its just insanly obnoxious. but my cousins DSM had a silencer on it and when i borrowed it and removed it.... GOOD GOD HUGE DIFFERENCE!

So how the hell is it considered a silencer? Why are there other people on this forum that have the silencer and it doesnt do this? I would expect a better answer than that from Corksport. I was going to buy that exhaust and i am concerned about how loud it is. The silencer was somehting that persuaded me to almost make the purchase but now Im still trying to decide

sorry to revive this thread -- but about the silencer ---------

was the buzzing heard on the inside of the car or just the outside --- ????
and did the silencer help soften the tone for less droning when cruzing ???

thanks for the help --

I had the silencer on for about two hours before it f'in loosened up and out it went. You could here the buzzing sound at idle and when you gently get on the gas inside the car. To be honest it sounded like s***. I have not purchased another one since. I have read in another post that you can add a washer and that may stop the buzzing but I wouldnt know.

It's the silencer/muffler design. It sounds like a farting buzz when you give it gas right? I put an exhaust with a tanabe style can and silencer and the silencer made it sound like a muffled rasp.

you could try pasting a layer of heatproof (600) paint on the silencer as a small film between the metal surfaces
