Show me your CX-5 wheels

I am far from a wheel/fitment/stance professional...

Contemplating 19x9's with either +32 or +20 offset and 245/50 19 tires to maintain the rolling diameter for AWD, and ability to use the spare.

In the past I used spacers with proper extended lugs to perfect the offset. But with lug nuts I don't want to mess with spacers.

I feel like +20 is a bit extreme, but the online calculators show that it lines up with the stock inner wheel. Only issue is that it pushes out the scrub radius a bit, and possible fender clearance if/when lowered.

I feel like there is more to the equation as well...

- Hub centric rings as the CX5 is 67.1 and these wheels are 72.6

- Should I be considering lug stud diameter as well?

- Lug nuts (I know that there are different versions to be aware of)

- TPMS sensors?

My thinking... People are running 25mm spacers with the stock wheels (45 offset), which leaves it at 20mm and it looks great. But, come to think of it, that's with a 7" wide wheel. Another 2" would be a bit extreme. Back to the drawing board.

There's a reason most wheel shops won't sell rims lower than a 35 or 38 offset.

Can you run lower offset? Sure, you can do anything.

But should you run wide 9" wheels with lower offset?

You risk rubbing the suspension during turns as well as possibly tearing your fender apart. Plus potential camber adjustments, etc.

Not to mention your changing the dynamics of the vehicle. Pushing the weight out is going to affect acceleration and handling, as well as wear down your suspension and braking components, etc., etc.

The further you go out, the cx5 isn't going to be the same.

If you want to change it that drastically, consider trading it in and getting a Jeep or a true sports car.

Jack said it 100% correct.

Thank you.

Just looking to flush it out, and get a wider tire patch.
Try to use what guys already have as a starting point. Personally I’d love to push my wheels out a little but by going a bigger tire etc I’m already losing efficiency in the mpg range. Totally worth it since it’s only 1-2mp maybe on the hwy.

It's strange, but they may look better dirty :). For me, that may be a plus since I don't wash mine very often.

Added some 20x8.5 +40 459BK RETRIBUTION Gloss Black Wheels by PLATINUM wrapped in 245/45/20 General Altimax rubber. Pretty happy with the look but I think the car needs to be lowered a little.

Hey guys. Just downsized my wheels to 16inch. Got poorly maintained roads during daily commute so downsizing is the way to go. Anyway. Here’s some pics and specs
Wheels: ViP Status Turismo 16x7 ET +38
Tyres: 235/70R16 Hankook Dynapro AT-M
Nice!! This is the look I'm after, but thinking about going with 17".

I have a 2021 CX-5 Signature in Deep Crystal Blue Mica. Trying to decide if I should swap the OEM wheels for M001 wheels. Either way I'm going to with larger tires, 245/50/19.

What do you all think? Keep the OEM wheels or get the M001 wheels? Thanks for your opinion everyone!
M001s for sure

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking of M001 wheels for my CX-5 Signature. They are 8 inches wide. I'm trying to decide between 245/50/19 or 255/50/19 tires. Will 8 inch wheels be wide enough for 255/50/19 tires or will there be side wall roll during hard cornering? Also, will 255's cause any rubbing issues? Thanks in advance for any insights!

I went from stock 225 55r19 to winter 225 65r17 and will be switching to all terrain 235 70r16 in spring.
This was after careful measurement of the rim clearance and tire clearance.
Some on this forum have posted they have run 245's with no problem. Imo, 255 is not going to work, and may likely rub.

For 255, get yourself a used tire and rim at the junkyard and try it on before purchasing a brand new set. You'll probably need to get the tire and rim separately and mount but $50 to $100 for used beats $1000's on a new set which may not work.

This thread is full of cars running 255/45/20 on 8.5“ wheels. None have reported any rubbing or interference issues. I recently upgraded to the same as it is a conservative fitment.

Opinions please! I'm trying to decide on tire sizes for these M001 wheels for my CX-5 Signature. Here are the sizes I am considering:

255/50/19
vs
245/50/19

The slight variation in the speedo vs stock with either of these sizes is no big deal to me.

I can't seem to decide so I'd appreciate your suggestions!

If it were me, would stick closer to stock.

You will change some dynamics by wider tires.

Wider looks better and fills out the wheel wells.

dry traction and cornering improved.

wet traction will be worse...i.e. greater chance hydroplane

may cost more.

the wider the tire, the heavier. More weight equals possible reduced performance. May feel more sluggish.

I went from heavy 19 inch rims/tire setup to alot less weight 17 inch rim/tire setup and you can feel the difference with lighter tire/rim combos. The car is faster, and not sluggish.

I will be switching to 235 70r16 in spring and may eventually go to 245 on my cx5. I would never put a 255 on.

Just my opinion.
it's your car, do what makes you happy.
just make sure you weighed the positive and negatives.
