Show me your CX-5 wheels

Thanks for watching.
Those pictures was made on Saturday early morning in an area by the river and no one will be blocked at that moment LOL.
I wasn't so much complaining about people being blocked, as I am curious, what about that seems to be preferred in the photo compositions. Is it the light, framing, or something about breaking the rules, that people seem to think makes compelling composition.

I may be over-analyzing, but these are my guesses for why @zolo0727 chose those spots.

1st pic: The fences and lane marking line draw the focus to the center of the image. Makes sense to frame his car where those elements "meet".

2nd pic: Car is parked at that angle to get the skylight (or whatever that is) reflected in the rear windshield. The light coming in from that opening probably helped to bring out the reflection of the ground in the rear bumper too.

3rd pic: Don't think there was anything special about the positioning of this one. Maybe he just wanted to get that particular shot because it shows exactly where the photo is being taken (maybe for context or something).

Again, these are just a few guesses coming from a guy who took one introductory course in Photography over 10 years ago, lol. Don't take them too seriously 😅

That said, I know some people love to take photos of their cars parked in "off-limit" areas to show that they're "rule breakers", such as parking in front of a No Parking or No Trespassing sign. Usually these cars are modified to some degree, in a way that most people believe serves no purpose in every day use (such as a lowered CX-5 or a lifted Tacoma as a daily driver). Its kind of like an affirmation that they don't care about "the rules". That's just my take on it.

Although I'm not a photograghper who made those pictures, I don't think you are over-analyzing.
:p
In order to get better work, photographers often need to break the rules.
But breaking the rules doesn't mean influencing others.
There's no need to specifically imagine scenes that don't exist. Just use your eyes to find beauty.

New CX5 owner here so forgive if I ask anything I should already know. Just read a review on another thread of someone who had a great experience with the Falken Wildpeak’s. Personally, I love the look of these tires as I want something with more of an athletic stance but doesn’t ride like a mud/snow tire. From that review and others, this sounds like a good all around tire that is more than capable if the vehicle encounters less than ideal conditions and looks great. I assume the trade off is extra weight and decrease in miles per gallon.

Forgive the 50 questions but does anyone have any experience with these tires or know of something comparable?

I have a great set of TSW Sebring 18X8.5’s that I think Wildpeak’s, or a similar recommendation, would look great on but I’m also not sure about size tire either. Ie 225/55, 225/60, 235/55 or 235/60’s.

Thank you all in advance for any help you can offer!

Hey there. I have a 2019 GTR and have 19x8 40 offset TSW Mallory wheels with 245/50 on them. I think you could go to 245/55 18 and get a similar stance. I don't have any experience with those tires, but I think 245 is a great look. I think that an 8.5 inch wheel may be too wide for a 225 tire.

Thank you @Duckpin I really appreciate the suggestion and I've done a little more homework since your response and left the need to want a off-road tire as a daily driver, even though it looks great.

Like many others, I like the look a a full tire/ wheel set up to "fill the wheel well." Since Sunday have read from you all that I need to do this correctly, considering spec rev's per mile and speedo error.

I know increase in fuel consumption is the trade off, but willing to give that for better drivability and aesthetics. Also, I like a little more rubber as a personal preference, so have been looking at 235/60/18's and 245/60/18's because I already bought a great looking 18" wheel. Now the tough part- TIRE CHOICE at that spec.

Even if you're a 17" or 19" person, anyone out there that likes more rubber, with little compromise to OEM spec, have a recommendation on tire selection?

Pirelli, Michelin, Continental, Toyo, seem to be what appears the most, but would love to hear real world feedback on make/models that met a similar goal to mine- full'er and wide'er.

I appreciate any suggestions!

Mazda M012 18x8.0 ET+45 wheels with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 245/55-18 tires. More comfortable than stock 19" rim & tire combo, and WAY more grip. Very happy...

Excuse the dirt, I'll wash the car in a week or so.

Going taller will make the car slower accelerating, braking and top speed. The geometry is not set up for tall tires, makes for worse cornering and overall safety. Brakes are too small for bigger tires.
Going an inch taller tire won't hurt, but that is all I'd personally do on a CX-5.

That said, it does look nice. :)
The only reason you would need a mt or at tire is actual off roading. As 2 inch deep mud or sharp rocks.
Dirt roads, forest et cetera is fine with a road tire. If you choose a "A" wet rated tire it's amazing how much grip they have these days on wet pavement.

I think a car needs car tires. And a Jeep or Tacoma or pickup need at or mts, style wise.

I'd choose tires based on wet performance.

Can’t imagine these are still available... 😅
Side note here...Please note our FS Rules and Forum (where FS items are to be posted), thanks!

More info. Car drives great. A bit better road feel and sharper turn-in. The big surprise was the weight of the oe wheel/tire set: 49lbs (48.6). Really light. No wonder it feels so eager on the small wheels. I am a fan of the look of 19s but hard to argue with the performance of the 17s.

Well, decided to sell the Enkeis. My daughter has taken over the car and I don't want to stress about the wheels. Took them off last night and they are perfect. Less than 2k on the tires. My loss, your gain. Anyone in the Pac NW interested? Let's talk. I spent a bunch on these at the tire rack but am realistic re: value.

Is that a 19" wheel? Width, offset?

M011 wheels look better in my opinion. The harsher ride has always been a trade off with sharper steering, when going with a wider tire in my expierence with previous vehicles. I'd be curious if you notice a gas mileage difference with the heavier wheels, 5lbs. sound like a lot when talking about rotational mass. BTW hold onto that friend that will gift you a set of perfectly fine TSW wheels, always good to have a friend in a wheel repair shop. Congrats on the car also, looks great with whatever wheels you choose!
Hey @integ3,

After a few weeks with the TSW wheels, I am getting about 23 mpg city using regular gas in my GTR. That is according to the gas consumption app in the infotainment system. I don't have a good A/B comparison unfortunately unless there is a way to go back in the gas consumption app and see prior months when I had either the factory or M011 wheels on.

SSW Ultimate 20” 8.5J et45 with 255/45/20 RADAR DIMAX R8+ tyres

Just got washed today

Wheels still looks abit narrow for me, I see 275/40/20 is in line with the speedo by 1.5%, but the real issue is
1) will a 275 fit on a 8.5j
2) will it rub
3) has anyone fit it on 8.5j rim
