Shifter mechanism

I'm in need of a whole rod shifter and I'm not having much luck finding info. Are there other cars I can pull a rod shifter assembly out of in the JY and put in the protege? IE zx2,probe,626 ect? (car doesn't have an assembly...)

not sure about other cars but the entire shift assembly from tranny to the floor from any 99-2003 manual protege will work just fine. A 626 of that era would prob work too. no need to mess with the e clips, just unbolt the shifter from the floor, unhook the linkages from the trans and take the whole thing with you.

I would wait to find an 01-03 2.0L manual protege to take the linkage from, the 626 one won't work I'm 95% certain.
