Am I reading that right? Only 652 Mazda5's sold in September. Not sure if that is an inventory problem but 652 is a very low number. Just for comparison, the MX-5 sold 502...

North America Mazda released their September 2009 US sales data.

In September 2009 652 Mazda5s were sold, down 39.6% from September 2008. The YTD sales a lower than September of last year ( 14,918 vs. 15,717 )

I think it is an inventory problem. There are only 11 Mazda5s in stock for 250 miles around Denver (from mazdausa.com).

I think that the 2010s are going to be introduced this month, that should hopefully solve that.

I just ran a query in Autotrader.com for any distance from my zip code. 201 2009 Mazda5s available nationwide (eek2)

Post-Cash4Clunkers hangover. According to a recent LATimes article, the overall US Sep sales was down 23% from Sep 08 with GM and Chrysler leading the way with 45 and 42% drops.

lets add an astesk beside this past month just like O7....NO STOCK

My dealer had more Miatas (2) than 5s (1). There just arent many around here. I wanted the manual 5 speed and that was almost impossible to find.

The earth is gona stop, collapse and then turn the other side !! There is less sales this month !!!!

It definitely looks like an inventory issue.

Interestingly some of the local dealers already have the 2010 is stock..

Bingo. This is the cause of the inventory being low. Even when the 2010 models coming in, there will be fewer available buyers for a while.

In my neck of the woods I've only ever seen at most 5 Mazda 5's at the dealer at once....I've gone the last couple times to check out the new Mazdaspeed 3 and I saw one if none on the lot ( lets just say I've gone to see this car numerous times )(yes)

yep we just went to the dealer with the notion of trading the Legacy n our 07 Mz5 GT in for an 09 or 10 model.... notta available. The 5 was a huge hit with the SUV gone CFC crowd. Mazda better hurry up, they basically walking around with their fly down... leaving the door open for inferior products to be sold... yes that was a crack at KIA (Krap Imported to America)

Considering that Jul/Aug avg more than 700 units more than May/Jun, I think Mazda is clearly out of inventory. That's 1400 more units than forecast.

Of course, 75% of 5s I see around town are rental Sports currently.
So, if someone wants one, and doesn't need a Touring, there will be a bumper crop of turn ins in 6 mos or less. Just be patient and go used.
