Semi Tire.. say hello to my front bumper

I was driving into work yesterday on the freeway and all of a sudden the semi-truck in front of me blows a tire.. well the huge piece of rubber ends up right in front of me with no option but to run it over. It ripped my DG front lip off and destroyed it and also ripped half of my factory bumper off.
I'll try to post some pics later.

That sucks man, same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, destroyed my BR lip and ripped the rear bumper off on one of the sides. Try to get your Department of Transportation to pay for it.

I think you'd have a better chance of getting the trucking company to pay for it, if he was able to figure out who it was. DOT wouldn't be held responsible for a truck blowing a tire in front of you. Now, if the tire chunks were lying in the road & didn't get cleaned up, then there's a slight chance.

Either way, that really sucks. You're very lucky it stayed down low, because flying truck treads are amazingly destructive- I've seen them go thru windshields & do serious damage to the occupants of a car.

I hope you can get the trucking company to pay for this instead of insurance

same thing happened to an ex, called the trucking company and they asked for the truck number involved and for pics. A few weeks later she had a check in hand and a copy of the accident report for her records. I don't know if you'll have the same luck, we were just taking a stab in the dark that they'd pay for it. My uncle's a trucker and the one who told us to contact the company. I guess some companies are pretty good about paying it off and just see it as part of the cost of doing business.
