saw an srt-4 today.

yeh, i was driving down the street (crown valley off the 5 freeway) and i saw a black neon srt-4. i wasn't even aware that anyone has been able to get one yet. i knew it was the srt-4 because the car still had the window sticker. i dunno, i just thought i'd mention it. was kinda funny. it was getting onto the freeway and i hear a pop sound coming from it.

also, later that day i drove up to a light and i was side by side with a type-s and a wrx sti. nothing exciting happened though.

well, i was just surprised to see a black srt-4. whenever i think/see the name i always think yellow. i couldn't really say anything to the guy in the srt-4 since he was two lanes away from me.
as far as the wrx being sti or not, i THINK i saw the sti badge in the back and the huge fugly spoiler...unless someone just put that stuff on a plain wrx.

i dont think it was... its sort of like me thikning i saw a skyline on the road but it turned out when i got closer not to be.. (i hit about a 100 to see if it actually was).. I believe i saw one of the new dodges the other day to pulling out of somewhere.. atleast the front end looked exactly like it

i don't think the Evo's are suppose to be out till later this month and the WRX Sti's later on in late spring-summer. could be wrong though but i really don't think they're out yet.

Yeah, this is a Mazda forum, but damn, the SRT-4 & other cars alike are the competiton out there & they should be talked about.
If only to bash on them or even talk about what improvements we need to make to are cars in order to rap a SRT-4 ( yeah, it's wichful thinking ), but still I don't see why someone would feel the need to say " Wrong forum". Yeah maybe krillin could of posted this off topic or something, but he owns a MSP ( I think ) & most likely just wanted to talk about the SRT-4 to he fellow MSP owners...... Not starting anything, just think we should be able to talk about whats out there other then the MSP ( which I love this car so much, as AGR#7 would say ).

The SRT-4s, yea it's still a neon, but the MSP is still a protege, an econobox. That argument "it's just a neon" is immature. Dodge deserves some credit. They built a hell of a machine for under $20,000 US. The only thing it would be missing from being perfect performance car is an LSD, but the raw power makes up for that.

Remember...you guys still just drive a protege, and I still just drive a sentra, nothing changes that.

But...you can still say the Neon is ugly...the yellow is horrendinous...the black is okay...but it's still pretty ugly looking.

i hate every SRT-4 thread for this reason. Yes, the SRT-4 is "just a neon" as much as the mazdaspeed is "just a protege", but even then, a base protege is STILL better than a base neon. and yes, the neon is a load of crap. its ******* neon. the protege has class. ive been in the SRT-4 and i can tell you that the interiror is bogus, its ugly, its so domestic looking, cheap and lame. yeah its got ******-power, but ugh..its so ****** ghetto. the car just feels like a big POS with a powerful engine. if i wanted that, why not buy a used car and mod the **** out of it for 20,500, probably have better quality anyways.

i couldn't agree more. i love my car and i like the others but they are just upgraded versions of their lesser base models. so basically a 4 banger with a turbo in our case along with the srt.

This is off topic, but who gives a s***, let's talk about it anyway. I saw a R33 Skyline at the street races one night about year ago. And this was no s*** either, it was an actual Nissan Skyline R33 GTR, w/ right hand drive too. I think the guy was either really rich and didn't care if he got his car taken or he was really stupid. He never raced anyone though many tried to get him too. Thing that really pisses me off is that both times that I went out, I didn't bring my digicam, so people who never heard about it out here think I'm full of s***. Hell, they don't think that they'd ever see one in their area. The truth of the matter is that they have a couple for sale on Autotrader. Neon SRT-4's are out. Someone I know just flew to FL to pick theirs up and them drove it back to Ohio.

Just got a call from a local dealer today to say the EVO's are at their dealership. Arrived at 11:00 this morning. Of course they want 10% over MSRP for it.

STi's don't even have the official pricing or release date yet. We have a deposit down on one and it will most likely be at least June (if not longer) until those are out. A LOT of people badge the WRX's because there is a lot of STi after market equipment that you can buy for the WRX.

Everybody talks smack about the SRT-4 and yes its a peice of s*** neon but the day you get stuck at a light with one and it hands the MSP the only ass woopin the guy in the neon will have the last laugh.The MSP can handle great but how often do you think you will find an SRT- to run with in the turns, never.You would have to dump lots of $$$$$ into a MSP to even hang with a SRT when you could just dump a $1000 into the SRT and whoop on almost any import on the street for basically the same price you paid for the MSP if not cheaper.SRT ownz imports right now.

speaking of Evo's. The_Glassman and i went to the local Mitsu dealer and wandered around the showroom hoping to get a little info about the Evo's for about 15 minutes then decided to leave since there was absolutly nobody in sight. we thought about swiping some of the pizza they ahd sitting in a box but it turns out it was gone anywho, as were walking back across the snowy parking lot this salesman comes out and asks us if there's anything he can help us with. i say sure, do you have any Lancer's? he says yeah we have this yellow one outback they just took out of the showroom, its the special OZ edition, i say no no no, i mean real ones like the Evo. he says with a puzzled look on his face,no but we'll have a blue one in about a month. then went on to tell us about how it can keep up with a porsche and how the only options are going to be a rear spoiler and sunroof both of which this one they're getting will have. he mentioned something about 4000 being produced for the northeast and how rare they're going to be and i made a crack about these being alot more rare than the 1600 that were made of my car. The_glassman asked him if there's going to eb any upgraded parts released for it from RallyArt(i think) like exhausts or intakes,bolt on stuff in general. he said nope, your going to have to go to a "speed shop" for that. the sales man started talking out his ass about how wonderful the car is going to be and actually referred to the car as "PHAT". yes folks you heard me right,he litterally said PHAT. at that point we thanked him for making us stand in the cold wasting out time and walked back to the General Lee and took off.

matter of fact, if it weren't snowing like a bastard out there i'd run down to the Dodge dealer after i left work and see what they had to say about it or if they even had one just to prove you right
