Saturn Ion Redline

Yeah I've heard about it a while back. Impressive numbers but I don't care for the styling.

Air-to-water intercooler!

too bad the Ion is butt ugly for a starting point IMO. Interesting #'s though.

The Ion is ugly but wait for the 05 Chevy Cobalt SS that will have the same 2.0L powerplant and hp/tq.

i saw the cobalt SS at the auto show and i liked it. it looks much nicer than the cavalier. the aftermarket is going to eat them up.....

also, i thought the SS was a 2.4 liter

Too bad Mazda didn't do all this stuff for us MSP people:

The key is a serious horsepower bump, achieved by plumbing an Eaton helical Roots-type supercharger into the intake system of the 2.2-liter DOHC 16-valve Ecotec four. This entailed more than simply bolting on the blower. The engine team dropped the compression from 10.0:1 to 9.5, with new pistons supported by heavier connecting rods. There's a new high-strength crank at the bottom end, bigger intake valves up top, a new engine-control program, a heavy-duty alternator, and a drive-by-wire throttle, a first for an Ecotec application.

The Cobalt offers a 2.2L 140 hp, a 2.4L 170 hp and the SS will use the same 2.0L Supercharged engine as the Ion Redline for 200 hp

i knew there was a 2.4L version. but why not supercharge the 2.4L?

Im sure they will in due time. I have the 2.2 140hp Eco in my Crapiler daily driver and I can tell you first hand that its quite, economical and the little bastard runs strong. I usually chirp 3rd gear with my 18s when I romp on it. I think the New Cobalt will have huge aftermarket support.

most definitely. chevy has to keep up with dodge (srt) and ford (focus)

You mean Focus SVT. Chevy should have a sportcompact car with balls.

just for the record, there is no more Focus SVT - in fact, no vehicle for 04 model year carries the SVT badge if i recall my reading right

i think 04 is the last year ken

now they are going carry the shelby badge. ex. shelby focus. i think that is what i read, maybe i was dreaming...........

Saturns and anything from GM is a POS.
So are Saabs, Holdens, and Opels POS? Remember GM owns shares in Subaru!
