You almost certainly need to install the radio. Look on your roof - if there is an antenna there (a black lump about 1.5" square) you are in luck and only have to activate it. If there is no antenna, you need the radio.

If I was going to get a sat. radio that plugged into my auxillary outlet which one would be a good choice? Sirius or XM?

I have Sirius. Not sure about XM, but sirius carries all NFL games on Sunday, Monday, and sometimes Thurs when it becomes applicable. If you are not into the football (pro) scene, then I think it comes down to whatever you want. I will say that I have had XM owners tell me they wish they would have gotten Sirius.

XM and Sirius have agreed to merge. It is not clear if they will merge the services, but they are becoming the same company.

The channels will be 'merging' but make no mistake... Sirius bought out XM. But that's irrelevant.

For now, they're 2 separate companies operating the same way they always have. It'll probably be another 6-8 months or so before major changes take place. The uncertainty is hurting sales so they're definitely eager to fix that.

best thing to do... sign up for a free trial online for both services. XM's web player is far better than Sirius but don't let that be a factor. Simply determine which channels you prefer. Having both, (directv gives you xm) I prefer XMs music choices. Being a fan of Howard, Sirius made the most sense in my car. Music's still good (and for some, might even be considered better... more of a slant towards rock) but in the end, it's purely subjective.
