Rough Idle when AC is off?

Mazda Protege SE
I just bought a 99 Mazda Protege SE (After my brother decided to wrap my 2000 Mazda Protege around a tree) a couple days ago and it has been idling rough whenever I stop at a stop light. It doesn't happen right away (Thus the reason I didn't notice it during the test drive) it only seems to happen once the car warms up. It gets so bad that the car literally shakes... Not just a little vibration. It shakes enough to bounce you around a bit. I just noticed today that when I turn the AC on at a stop light it cuts down on the idling exponentially to where it almost doesn't idle rough at all... Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this? The timing belt was changed about 500km (or less) before I bought it, and one of the belts just started squealing so it's going to need replacing. Also, the brakes are a bit rough from sitting so long and are going to be replaced later in the week... I don't know if that could cause it, but I doubt it.

Thanks in advance!
