Road America Event in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin
There are rotary nutz everywhere and they are a die-hard breed. I have about 100 pictures of RX-7s not counting racing pictures. I've owned two and still own the 88 Anniversary edition turbo. I have been watching them race at various road courses around the country since the late '70s.
There will be a huge rotary gathering at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin during third week of July this year. This is literally the best road-racing course in the country. 4 miles long and beautiful countryside. This is an awesome event and you can even get your car on the track for "touring". Spectators take over track during lunch hour break in racing schedule. You can only pass on the straights and have to keep it under about 90 mph. I ran it last year - what a rush. Every type of sports car you can think of will be there - RX-7s galore, Miatas, Honda S200s, Mustangs, Ferraris, MGs, Lotuses, Datsun Z-cars, Jaguars, BMWs, and tons of others I haven't named. There were 200 cars on the track at once last year.
I believe about 50 slots for touring are reserved for RX-7s only this year due to the release of the new RX-8 Mazda will be out in force for this event. There will be at least 15 Rx-7s from our local Minnesota club alone that will be attending. About the same from Wisconsin. If any of you are interested in attending this event let me know. I would be happy to get information for you. Love the new rotary forum.
