Resuming Playback with 2014 CX-5 GT Tech Stereo and other issues

I make a video with my problem a very bad video but it ilustrade my frustation. in Spanish sorry....

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/xnqh0MbReDQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also meanwihle I am making CDS of Mp3 .... I hope all the other security equipment works fine if I ever crashed, this is my first Mazda and I really love the Motor but hates the stereo...

If you plan on using ITUNES for making mp3's i sugest that you don't. Mazda's display on the MP3 CD will automaticaly put every song in its album folder much like Itunes however it will treat each folder likes its own playlist. Thus once your song is finished it will repeat the same song in your first folder and not recognize it has other songs in different folders. To play another song or track you have to manually back out and find the folder of another song... Your asking for a crash in the highway if you are doing it this way for sure! Why Mazda doesn't auto correct this is a mystery but my old Honda's old disc mp3 player would play newly Itunes burned mp3 discs without this problem.

Thank-you for my morning laugh!

Sue-happy USA. Unfortunately, even in America, you need to show damages to win. And the fact that the stereo doesn't start on the same song that was playing when you shut down does not qualify.

U.S. courts recognize frivolous lawsuits regardless of how much you doll them up with tales of horrific "diminished enjoyment".

I suggest you wait for Mazda to release the update they have been working on and save your courtroom drama for issues with legal merit.

Glad I provided a laugh, but I doubt I am the only one who's mind it crossed. Actually I have been a party to situations that would have warranted legal recourse, but I chose not to take it. I guess I meant to put a bug in someones head, because I know I wouldn't pursue it, and I agree, most are frivolous. Sometimes legal actions like that are the only way to get corporations to address issues, although in this case, I don't see it being a money issue and Mazda has said they are working on a fix. I don't expect any empathy on message boards, but really what I say is just a way to vent, not to entertain you. Although if has done that, then so be it. I just am very disappointed with the CX-5 and yes, somewhat impatient waiting for a fix. I purchase something that behaves worse than a car that is 4 years its predecessor, than I am bound to be disappointed. Whatever you feel about the operation of the system, it isn't acceptable to me. Does that mean I will do anything more than post to this forum and send Mazda emails, probably not. But I can vent and apparently make you laugh.

I just want the issue fixed and didn't mean to imply anything more than that. The best way to have Mazda hear us is to continue to email them. I would like them to commit to a date. I can wait, but why can't they say something like it will be fixed by fall of 2013. Other than that next best way we can affect change is to not give Mazda any more business, but there aren't enough here to make an impact doing that. So I over reacted with the lawsuit thing, but hey maybe there is a foolish, litigious, dumb, fat, lazy, selfish American out there that would. Ugh message boards make sick

Contacting Mazda is probably the best you can do at this point, but there are other avenues as well, such a posting your dislike on their Facebook page. I had done this for my aftermarket Clarion system that had a bluetooth issue, and within a day there was a response from Clarion (suggesting I call customer service, ha ha). But the advantage of posting on their Facebook, assuming you are "nice" enough and they don't delete it, is that everybody sees it. Same thing with their twitter account. So next time you see a CX-5 article on Mazda's Facebook page, just ask about the stereo!

Most of us are with you on this. The more people that put a bug in Mazda's ear, the more likely they are to take it seriously, so don't give up on letting them know how you feel. I know I won't.

I agree with you. Message boards always will have the other side to oppose your viewpoints. I think just making the problem known is sufficient but if alerting other techno savvy music freaks out there that haven't yet voiced their opinion-but wish to do so can have an avenue to vent their frustrations with us. I think FB is an excellent choice, but will have to do that from home as FB runs a tad slow over here. If someone has a mazda page with the most friends please hyperlink it here and we can try an approach on there.

From where I'm sitting it looks like Mazda already takes it seriously - otherwise, why would they have commissioned a software update to upgrade the software?

Sorry, but I don't buy that they take it very seriously. I have no doubt that a high tech company like Johnson Controls could figure this issue out within days, if not hours. They are dragging their feet because there is little incentive for them to not do so.

I bet a video of the issue on their Facebook page would speed things up greatly, and now that I have the idea I probably will do just that if I ever get a spare hour to do so.

I had the same issue. So now I just use a coax cable and plug my Ipod directly to the stereo system. I get better sound that way also. You can plug the coxa cable in the center console and it will play directly to your speakers.

I totally agree. We need to keep up the complaints. Once they fix it, I wil feel differently and be appreciative. But right now, other than acknowledge the issue, and giving a nebulous statement that they are working on it, but the fact they don't have a date is not encouraging. We need to figure out the best avenues to get their attention. If the problem creates an embarrsment for Mazda and perhaps causes them to lose money, then they will act. I doubt we can affect that much change, but maybe we can still make a loud noise. What about a twitter tag? There is the @MazdaUSA account. What bout #CX5Fail, #CX5IPodFail, #ReallyMazdaReally.

That is a solution, although it doesn't use the Centerpoint speaker. Using the USB interface does. Also with the USB interface you can see the song information and use the steering wheel controls. In that case, I'd rather use Bluetooth if that is an option for the audio source. Steering wheel controls work and if you have a iphone, it will display the information as well.

Even if they left out the part about "It is functioning as designed" in their replies I would feel better about accepting their statement about working on the issue. Don't try to blow smoke up our collective asses, just admit that someone screwed up.

I like the hashtag idea. I vote for #CX5IpodFail - it is the most direct and the others imply that the whole car or company are bad.

I've had the same issues other folks have been writing about, and wrote to Mazda Customer Service. Here were the issues I described to them:
- with a 160GB iPod Classic (& 145GB of music) it takes minimum of 7 minutes to connect, and then does not operate with full functionality.
- with iPhone 4S 32GB using BT streaming, iTunes playlist returns to the top whenever the car is started, plus text messages will not load into car unit.
- general clunkiness and unresponsiveness of voice recognition system

And this was Mazda's reply:

"It may take a few minutes for the USB feature to connect, however, it is operating as designed. The Bluetooth streaming will not allow music to shuffle and it will start at the beginning of the play list every time the vehicle is started. We are aware of compatibility issues with the text messaging feature and we are working with Apple to rectify the concern. As you described, the voice command feature is also operating as designed. If there are future updates for the features, they will be made available to you at your local Authorized Mazda dealer."

**So Mazda is saying it's all designed it to work poorly on purpose. Thank goodness the car comes with an auxiliary cable jack.

I think you need to have "Mazda" in the hashtag, especially since all of the latest models are plagued by the issue.

I think the iPod mention is more to the point. I'm going with #MazdaIpodFail starting now. ;)

#MazdaIpodFail works for me. Although there are Nav fails, safety lock fails, messaging fails, oh and the liftgate handle for my CX-5 fell out on its own fail :) Goes on and on, but #MazdaIPodFail is the one we want to affect change for now, so I will go with that.

You plug it in directly but how? USB Adapter to COAX - then plug it behind the stereo? Not seeing the inputs for this anywhere in my CX-9 2013 i must be blind hahah. HELP!

You know you're asking a question about a CX-9 on the CX-5 board, right?

For CX-5's there's a USB connector in the center console cubby.
