Replacing front main seal, how far in?

2000 Protege LX, 1.6L. I wa having a bad oil leak, aka 2qts a week so I replaced the front main which is where it seemed to be coming from. While I was in there I replaced the timing belt and water pump as well. Today I'm bleeing the coolant and for the first 10 mins of the car idling it was leak-free. Then all of a sudden it starts leaking lots of oil from near the crank pulley. I will take off the timing covers tonight or tomorrow to figure out better where it's coming from

My question is, how far does the seal need to be tapped in? Flush with the aluminum case or all the way in? Are these seals pretty finnicky in that if you don't get it seated just right it will leak? Thanks for the help!!

The correct answer is basically flush. Dealer calls for 0.5mm inside the surface of the oil pump housing. So that's basically flush.

I replaced that, still leaking oil. Seemed to be coming from the oil dipstick tube, however, there is no o-ring on that. I took it out, put some silicone on it and pressed it back in. Still leaking oil, but from higher up. Seems to me that the only thing left would be the seal around the oil pump itself.

Any opinions? Comments? Tips? Lol. This is gay. I'm getting very good at tearing apart this side of the motor though haha.
