Replacing 2017 CX-5 Touring Steering wheel but which part number?

So my 7yr old Mazda CX-5 Touring steering wheel is all but polished. There isn't much grip and I thought, can't I just replace the steering wheel with OEM new? Videos show basic disconnect battery (wait some time...), remove airbag/horn center, then bolt, then separate rear cowl, controls and such, and transfer to new wheel, reinstall.

Problem is, the p/n number I find is KN3L-32-98XA-02 and over $600. I don't have heated wheel but would want leather w/stitch. Other Mazda p/n's come up at other dealers (online) with different prices. Then I found p/n B62S3298202 which is w/o heat and leather around $380. Then a Japan-built B63C3298202 (which mine is?) that is w/o leather and w/o heat and cheaper... I suspect mine but I want leather. So I think I want the B62S3298202. Is there a preferred online parts vendor? And anyone replace their older, shiny, polished steering wheel and any gotchas to watch for? Will same rear cover and controls transfer to the leather version? Thanks.

Check out this TSB and you’ll find OEM leather steering wheel part no. information (you need a new lock bolt and may also need new steering wheel hub kit for steering wheel replacement) and the basic instruction of the work.

TSB No.: 06-001/23 Leathef Steering Wheel Surface Wear / Peel

Unfortunately for 2017 ~ 2022 CX-5 the TSB listed only 5 part numbers for leather steering wheels but without detailed descriptions. You may have to contact any Mazda dealers to verify correct leather steering wheel with the parts guy for your MY with your VIN.

Before you replace it, have you tried just cleaning with detergent & wet cloth? My wife's car (2019) was just like you describe. I'd cleaned it a couple of times with leather cleaner and it helped a bit for a while, but shiny came back. Just recently, she decided to clean her car out (shock!) and used damp cloth and spray cleaner (I think) and the wheel came back like new with all the grip returned. She actually commented on how much brown yuck came off on the cloth :)

Worth a try.

Thanks for that info!
Mine isn't leather but the Japanese made non-leather. So that doesn't apply. Mine is just shiny, no texture.

Yeah, I cleaned it. No change. I thought of scuffing it. But then I thought, why not replace with the leather version?
