Drain oil. Drain radiator fluid. Remove stock intake. Remove IC pipes. Remove radiator hoses. Remove Radiator (not necessary, but smart). Remove manifold cover. Remove o2 sensor. Go under car and unbolt s-pipe from J-pipe (3 bolts), unbolt j-pipe from steel bracket, there is an oil return hose behind the turbo that is right above the bracket (unclamp that). Go back to top of car and unbolt manifold 12mm bolts and nuts (8), take off vacuum hose from wastegate actuator, remove oil and coolant feed lines (copper colored) from turbo. Then finally, pull your whole turbo/manifold/s-pipe assy out. That's all from memory, but I think it's most everything.

Forgot remove fans:)

If you haven't done it by Saturday, I'll snap you some pics while I'm taking everything apart.

wow, thats alot involved in removing it. Thanks for the help. Im sure its not as bad as it sounds. I am getting started on it on thursday hopefully. I should be able to ship it to you by monday.

Spray your bolts with pentrating oil. Don't try and force them off. Work them off slowly. You don't want to break the studs.

Thanks! Will do. I wouldn't want to brake any studs, i heard some horror stories about that.

take the radiator and fans off.... its really easy to do and saves the worry of damagine the radiator - which is easy to do.

Get a ratcheting box-end wrench for the manifold nuts, it makes it much easier for the harder to reach nuts on the bottom row.

You will end up lifting the mani, turbo and s-pipe (in one unit) straight out of the engine bay. Then you will take the turbo and s-pipe combo off the mani and put it on the new mani. Now you will drop the new mani, turbo, and s-pipe assembly back in.

Remeber to remove the oil feed line from the turbo; access this from below after unbolting the J-pipe from the S-pipe. Also remove the EGR tube from the stock mani which is an easy compression fitting.

I would suggest replacing the S-pipe or getting a full downpipe at this time (if you have not already done so), or you will repeat this process again. To replace the S-pipe in the future you have to do this same thing.... so might as well get it done in one shot. Plus improving the flow characteristics of the mani can only be complimented and maximized by improving the flow of the exhaust.
Peace.

So who sells just the s-pipe for sure now? I think i remember MAM not doing just the s-pipe anymore. Does corksport have just s-pipes for sale and have them instock. I have a vibrant s-pipe back. It would make sense to replace the s-pipe as well.

very true. I think Corksport sells an S-pipe, j-pipe combo... but I don't know if the S-pipe can replace the standard S-pipe and match up with the stock J-pipe location (where your vibrant is now).

Yeah, i would love to know if the corksport s-pipe would bolt up onto my vibrant j-pipe. If it does, i would pick that bad boy up.

Jurgs01, i am almost done with my uninstall. I removed all fluids, radiator, etc... I just need to unbolt the s-pipe, j-pipe, manifold and all the feed lines. Question about the feed lines, do i unbolt them from the turbo or from where its running from?

I think there is just one you need to remove, and just take it off completely. There is a thin shiny heat wrap around the tube, and I think it is about 6-8" long from the turbo to the block. There are two allen bolts on each side. Be careful and save the metal gaskets on each end.

He is talking about the feed lines. The ones above the turbo. The coolant feed and return you are going to want to leave connected to the turbo, and take those off where they connect to rubber hoses (on the right). Your oil feed line has a rubber covering and is smaller. There is a little 10mm bolt on top of the turbo that you take off for that one. It's tight to get a small wrench in there, but 1/4 turn at a time will do it. The one Casopolis is talking about is the oil return line to the block. It will be underneath. I would'nt take the allen part of it off personally (where it bolts into the block). You can just take the clamp off the rubber hose and it will come off when you pull the assemby out. YOu might have to rock it side to side a little to get the s-pipe to come apart from the J-pipe. The whole thing is not extremely heavy, but it is not light either. Good luck:)

Oh, and if you send me the 6 bolt and two nuts that connect the manifold to the head, and the four that connect the mani to the turbo, I will send you all SS bolts to go with it:) I don't need them because I am trading the car in.
