need some advice for some winter tires ? for those of you who have driven their speeds in the snow and know.

Yokohama V901 - $880
Pirelli W160S - $710
Blizzak LM-22 - $880

(canadian prices).

these prices at least reasonable.

Why not post this thread in the Tire/Wheel Forum and you might get even mroe responses. Or maybe try a search as I think this question has been asked before.

Well if it's for his MAZDASPEED....

I would suggest tirerack.com
Firestone Winter Force 195/50/16
$408 shipped to my door in CT mounted and balanced

I've been very happy with the Michelin Pilot Alpins on my wife's Focus SVT. Those are 17's on a second set of factory rims.

I may go the same route for my MSP, but without the factory rims since you can only get them from Mazda. I haven't gotten around to it yet, though. I like keeping the 17 inch rim to keep at least some semblance of sporty handling. The Pilot Alpins actually handle quite well- I'd say they're 8/10ths as good as a summer tire.

Of course, I could just cheap out and go with some 15 inch steelies and Blizzaks as well.

Nokian NRW all the way. you will notice the difference.... look at where I am located and you'll find out why my choice is the best one for you to reference ;)

How much are nokians typicly?
Also I notice they have zero online dealers.

For this much why not buy a better for $ 1000 and store the msp for the winter

Those *are* CDN prices, so that's really not that terrible.

However...check 1010tires.com....they're canadian. They have a clearance on the Pirelli W-ice-D in 185/65-15. You can get those with 15" steelies for about 590$ before shipping. Otherwise, you can check out what else they have for those other brands...it looks like they can offer better prices than you found.

Don't worry I'm listening.

I wanted Nokians but for $800 and no internet retailers they may be a losed cause.

hehe ok guys sorry, I got too much time on my hands tonight.

Call tirerack and talk to them about it. I had a long conversation about winter tires and they ended up pointing me twords the firestone. They even had cheaper ones to offer. I initially went for the Blizzak's but they are not THAT great and they are big $$. Look at the ratings on the web site.

Yeah, Blizzaks aren't that great neither.

Pricey too.

I've heard of Nokians, but have been told numerous times, if you find them, Hakapalitas are well worth the money.

I just never have the money...:(

I got some Pirelli(sp) snow tires... they rule, great in the snow, and not loud during normal driving. I will post the model # when i pull them out of the attic next week.

I ran Michelin Pilot Alpin's last year in 195-55-15. Too small, I know. I'm selling them tomorrow and getting the Pilot Alpin 2's in 205-60-15.
Depending where you live and how much snow you get, the Nokian's are heavy duty snow tires. Pilot Alpin's or Pirelli 210 Snowsports are a better dry handling tire, better road manners, etc.
