Rear cargo light fuse?!

So I was adding extra LED lights in the rear cause the stock interior cargo light is a joke. Well I tapped into the wires right at the stock light and they were working fine. I tucked the wires and one needed a little slack so I pulled on it a little. Instead if slack I got broken wires. I saw a quick little spark and no more light.
The rest of the interior lights work and the rear cigarette lighter works. I checked the fuse box in the engine area and all are good!!
Is there another fuse box?

This issue was raised on a service bulletin No: 09-023/12 on 07/03/2012.
DESCRIPTION
When replacing the light bulb in the cargo compartment, the battery power must first be interrupted to avoid damaging the rear body control module (RBCM).
CAUTION:
• TO AVOID DAMAGING THE RBCM DURING CARGO COMPARTMENT LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT, ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OR THE CARGO LIGHT CONNECTOR.
• IF THE RBCM IS DAMAGED, IT WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT (Rear Body Control Module)
• If the bulb is removed (by hand or with a screwdriver) and battery power is still supplied to the cargo compartment light, the metal end of the bulb could cause a short circuit (C) between the negative (A) and positive (B) electrodes. If this occurs, the RBCM will be damaged and will require replacement.
NOTE: RBCM replacement will not be covered under warranty.

You were really lucky if it didn't take anything else out. All exterior lights still working as well?

I just did a simple disconnect the bulb assembly from the wiring.Swapped out the festoon bulb with a LED.No issues

looks like OP is in for an expensive dealership visit as the RBCM is not covered under warranty, plus him 'tapping' into wires they may not want to touch it

Everything else works except for the rear cargo light. I'll just run some lights off the cig lighter port with a toggle switch for now.

Anyone know where the pressure switch is for the rear hatch for the light?
Maybe I'll use the stock switch and run lights from a more reliable power source.

Why not just fix it the right way unless the cost is ridiculous?
How much is the repair by Mazda service?

Everyone is making it sound like it's gonna cost a lot and it's not covered under warranty. I didn't check at dealer yet.
I do have bumper-bumper 100k

Before you start butchering stuff, get a cost.
Maybe the dealer will work with you.

just remove the wire you tapped into, looks like you didn't touch it, and tell them the bulb stopped working and see what they say, yea you need a new module, I was trying to do the same thing, they replaced it free and told me disconnect neg terminal for any bulb replacement in the future.

Expensive is relative. $178 is not that much for the module.

Dealer replaced mine under warranty.

Oh. $178 isn't bad.
But yea. Im just gonna take the stuff out that I did and buy a LED bulb. Tell them I tried swapping the bulb and it just stopped workin.

A expensive fix is when I blew up my rear diff on my Xterra when off-roading.
It cost over $3k!!!

Make sure you tell them you followed the steps on pages 6-48 and 6-49 of the OM, especially step 2.

Are you guys resetting i-Stop calibration (or having issues with it) after disconnecting the battery? I read in the tech manual that it had to be reset (along with windows etc) when reconnecting battery.
