Quoted for Powdercoating

So I called a local shop thats pretty well known and i asked them for a quote on powder coating. They quoted me $150 a wheel. Isn't that pretty insane? I hear everyone else got theres around $80-100.

What's local? I was quoted $100+ per wheel here near DC, but in TN I can get it for $60 per wheel, so location has much to do with it.

A lot of the price is prep work. If you bring in the wheels stripped already to the powdercoater, you'll save a bundle. There are companies that will blast your wheels for cheap.

Yeah depending on your location, if you are in the New England area, there is a group interest on getting some done for really cheap.

I got mine done for $200 total. he originally told me he was going to do a matte black, but he ended up doing them flat black. it looks pretty good. he originally quoted me $60/wheel, but he took like 2 weeks and only charged me 200 for all 4.

Isn't matte black the same as flat black?

Yeah 150 a wheel sounds reasonable if it includes the prepping.

matte black is different from flat black. Matte black is more towards the glossy side, not by much IIRC. Pops a lil more than flat black IMO
