Hey how old do you have to be to test drive a car in Canada? and what license do you need? G1 or G2, cuz they dealer's gonna be right beside you.

in the US it varies dealer by dealer on their policies...you could just go in and try to test drive something, if they deny you, they deny you, no sweat off your back

Here in Alberta you get your license at 16 which is probably the same in whatever province you are in. However there is now that probationary period for 2 years for new drivers regardless of age. I think someone with a valid license must accompany you so the dealer will go with you. What is a G1 or G2? Is that passenger cars?

However, I think it is up to the dealer. When we test drove our P5 the dealer gave us the keys and said "Have fun". He did take a copy of my license though.

If you are really young I think it is more a case of if the dealer will take you seriously. Are you really able to afford the car?

My $0.02 worth.

well we can always go in and say my parents are buying me the car, G1 is like a learner's permit, but i'm such a good driver, hahaha don't need it.... G2 is when i can drive by myself'n stuff, G1 i have to have someone beside me, i gotta practise driving standard too, wha'ts the clutch like on the p5? never touched one...

The clutch is smooth but you really have to drive a lot of different types of standards to appreciate the difference. Every type is different.

Do NOT go test drive a manual car if you don't know how to drive it. They will ask you to step out of the car if you obviously don't know what you are doing.

Driving stick CANNOT be learned by asking questions - you must experience it.

Sounds like you're not as good a driver as you think you are, anyway.

Save yourself the embarrassment, and test-drive an automatic, or wait until you know what you are doing behind the wheel.
