So I got the OEM roof rack through my local classified ads.
The seller told me it is is new, never installed. According to him, the dealer gave him the cross bars as shown in the photo, and he never installed them on the car.
Here is my question - it may be silly but pls bear with me, I have never had or installed a roof rack before. What's the deal with this big gap at the top? It looks like the anti-skid rubber on the cross bar is getting on the way. I am surprised that this is the way the dealer gave them to the guy... Is the gap supposed to be there? I don't think so, according to the instructions that I got, the rubber has to be cut (the Mazda instructions include only icons, no words, and are worse than an IKEA instruction booklet)
Would it be safe to cut this section of the rubber? If someone has this same roof rack, could you pls tell me how yours is set up?
Last question, the car is white and I would like the "Mazda" on the sides to be white too. Anyone painted the lettering under the key hole?
