Question about pulling radiator hose to access fan control module on '03 6S

This is my first post, but I've been reading a lot of other posts on my issue. I know there has been a recall on this, and unfortunately, mine was already changed in '07 so now I'm on my own to replace the new broken module. I don't feel like paying $400 for something relatively easy to replace on my own for under $100.

The replacement looks pretty straightforward. The only problem is that the FCM is in a very tight location and covered by the top radiator hose. Now, I'm a pretty much a novice at most things related to modern engines. I want to just yank the radiator hose off the get better access to the FCM, but I'm not sure whether or not when the car is off and cool if that top hose actually has fluid in it. I don't want a big mess if I pull it off. I'd rather just work around it if that's the case.

Anyone that can answer this very easy question would be appreciated!
