Protege Vs. Mazdaspeed Protege

I'm new to the world of Mazda's and Mazdas247, so I wouldn't really know the difference. I just bought a 03' Protege DX and was looking to put performance parts on it for kicks and giggles. I know that the Mazdaspeed has a turbo and is a lot more fun to drive, but do they sell just a stock "Mazdaspeed Protege" or is it just an upgraded Protege with badged and other assorted upgrades? Can you put a turbo on a normal Protege? Etc. etc. etc. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

The mazdaspeed protege is a base protege with racing beat suspension, calaway turbo kit with a retuned ecu, an aero package, a kenwood sound system, and color stitched seats.

+ Mazdaspeed accessories like Pedals, short throw shifter, shift knob & Valve cover cover! Also a "Mazdaspeed" speedometer.

Yeah its always better to start with an already turboed car in my opinion though. Its a lot less work to upgrade parts here and there over time to make a sweet ride vice having to piece together an entire turbo setup.

thanks for the replies guys! I have a 66' Mustang, so I'm kinda new to the whole Mazda deal. But all in all, would it just be cheaper(and easier) to buy a Mazdaspeed, rather than fixing up a stock protege?

I've been looking at performance parts, but I'm not sure what all I could use and all the that other stuff? I'm sure I sound like a car noob, but again, I'm just new to the foreign car industry. Thanks for all the advice guys!

Like others said, all depends on what you want to do to it, if you want to make it really fast, it doesnt matter cause you will be building everything then.
