I wanted to put this AudioLink iPod adapter into my p5 02, and I was using these radio removal tools (four of them, looked up the user's manual on that)

anyhoozle, I try to remove the radio w/ these, by putting in 2 on each side (After removing the inserts, naturally), and one side goes in real nice, but the other requires some forcing, when there's a rather ugly cracking noise, and now that end goes in effortlessly (there is no firm feeling like the tool is fitting into any slot).
So, it seems to me that I have one side of my center console that will work with these tools, but the other side is out of commission. Is there any way I can still remove my center console? It gives me almost tangible pain to see this ipod connector collecting dust in the back of my car...
