Problem with Skunk2's NEED HELP!!

I've had a set of Skunk2 coilovers for a few month now and am very agrivated with them. I have replaced the strut bearings 4 times since installing the set. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I've had the car allinged twice by 2 different shops.

I get a popping noise when I turn the wheel, and now after installing the newest set of bearings even get noise just when driving. I am thinkning that somehow I am getting a bind between either the bearing and the top hat or the bearing and the strut mount. I've thoroughly cleaned everythign before reinstalling and even added a bit if lubricant to try and make things better. Nothing. I can't get rid if this noise!

If anyone has any ideas I would really like to hear!

(I can't aford the JIC's or Tein's at the moment)

Would getting a camber plate with an eliptical bearing solve my problem?

The popping noise I had was also from the bearings. I just kept them greased regularly and they were fine, except for the extremely bad ride:) Other than that, I didn't notice any unusual sounds. Are you bottoming out perhaps?

how far are you lowered?
I think I'm lowered about a total of 2.5" The wheel well sits at the top of the tire maybe a 1/4" whel gap.

I've checked and I'm pretty sure that I am not bottoming, I still get some compression when I go over bumps. I don't a get a rub in the front fender either.

I greased the hell out of them today and the noise has pretty much gone away, but with all the crap on the roads here the grease ends up attracting dirt and tinmy rocks (they pave with tar and pea gravel in NE) then a week down the road I have to take it all apart and clean it.

Just seems to be a bit of a b**** to have to do this all the time.

Thats exactly why I took mine out. They rode like s***, and they made noise. The only reason I liked them was because the car needs to be slammed. Too bad the handling goes to s*** with the Skunks though. You shoul look into getting some springs. They will give you almost the same drop, and you won't sacrifice much ride. Almost as smooth as stock.

2K3,

You got any pics of your drop with the springs? I've been putting up with the horribly stiff ride (though H rated tires made a night and day improvement) because I haven't found a set of springs that give me the look that I want. Since I installed my new wheels (went a couple mm too wide with the offset) I had to raise 1/2" or so to keep from rubbing in the back, so I had to raise the front too to level it out, still kinda have a slight rake. I just don't to go any higher than I am now.

I'm looking at the coilover set offered by Delsing Motorsport, the look insane and have a dual rate spring setup. Dave @ Delsing has been CRAZY helpful in explaining and helping me try to eliniate my dilema

This is also why I got rid of mine. I have since installed springs with a 2" drop and handling is better than ever. Luckily I got away with just replacing the rear struts:rolleyes:

Damn no wonder I'm getting that noise. It comes and goes though, depends on the weather really. I bought my car used and it already had the skunk2's on it so I dont have the tools to adjust them I dont think. (suspension noob).

Any idea if I can get the adjustment tools anywhere besides trying to order them from Skunk2?
