I was wondering if anyone put some sort of grease, lube on the rubber door seals to prevent it from sticking in winter.

I ask this as this morning my door was suck and it took quite a bit of effort to open it.

I was thinking of using white grease but im unsure if its safe for the rubber.

since your a fellow canuck, i would have to guess that they are freezing to the frame. i have to make sure all the the seals and the door frame are wiped dry or i'll be frozen outside my car, not fun.

hey,

just get a silicone lube and spray it onto a cloth then wipe it onto the seals. Make sure that they are dry and clean. The silicone should act as a water displacer. Wont harm the seals

What not to do: Grab a soda in a drive-through and slam it into the a-pillar, spilling it all inside the door and all over the seal. Then, drive 2 hours in 90 degree heat so the soda can dry up and leave a sticky mess. Then open the door, and if your lucky like me the rubber seal will rip right off the door and stay stuck to the frame. Ah, good times.

last night i went to get money out of the ATM and my window was frozen shut

i had to back up the car, get out in the sub zero temps, in my shorts just to get money

kinda sucked, but i used the money to get drunk so it turned out ok

How did you put it back on?!?!? Mine is coming off, and I didn't even spill anything!

That's classy (first)

Also if you go to a car wash and you want to make sure that your doors won't freeze shut, bring a towel or two with you and wipe the frames and seals after the wash. I do that during winter to ensure that I can get out of the car when I reach my destination :)

So guys... if the seal rips right off the door, what kind of glue do you think is best to put it back on?
