If I weren't an athiest and kind of a democrat, I'd say God wants the Republicans in charge!

Short version: Democratic Senator Tim Johnson appears to have had a stroke, and if he steps down, the Republican Governer of S.D. gets to pick his successor, handing control of the senate back to the Republicans!

Well, here's to a speedy recovery for Senator Johnson!

Nothing a Dem wouldn't do. You weren't in GA at the time, but Paul Coverdell, a Republican, died while in office. He was replaced by the Dem governor with a Democrat. I can't remember for sure if it changed the balance, but I remember it was significant.

Oh, I'm not saying it's anything unusual that the Gov. would choose one of his own, it's just the idea that the Senate could swing back to the 'pub's because of this that blows my mind!

Of course, there's no indication yet that the Senator is going to step down. The severity of the stroke isn't described at all in that story.

Aw great. Thanks for sending me to that site, Chollie, now the NSA is watching BOTH of us! Just great. ;)

It's nice to see you around the forum, Chollie. :D

Oh I'm around alot, just lurking in the corners, waiting to see who T M P is going to be next :D Actually upon further reading of that article, it seems the invisible agents are also tiny, so I must be OK, it was just the landlord coming in, hehe.

Cook County Chicago Illinois

John Stroger has a stroke and bequeaths his seat on the County Board to his son Todd Stroger

Bobbie Steele is an interim cook country governor, retires early so she can double her pension and gives her seat to Micheal Steele her son.

Both Democrats.

I wish the man a speedy recovery but if he can't perform his duties....

GAME SET MATCH....

or something like that.

Why do so many Republicans label Democrats as being ultra-left-wing-liberal just because they happen to be a Dem?

Because most dems I have seen while claiming to be "moderate" are actually just that, "ultra-left-wing-liberal". Obviously you're one of those. My response to you is, if you live next to the landfill long enough, eventually you don't notice the smell. Meaning, if you surround yourself with liberals, you think your beliefs are the norm,ie, "moderate".

You see, this is why I never post in these political threads, it's like arguing religion. I'll never argue you out of your faith in the Democrat party, just like I could never argue a republican out of their faith in the Theocrat..err..Republican party. To be honest, for so long the democrats have so far left that they were just as bad as the old liberals. And the liberals are so bad that they aren't really liberals andy more. But I see on the Democratic side that I see as promising it this new form of Democrate. Oh and the Republicans really have gone to far right for my liking also. But that leads me back to the Democrats. There is this new breed for Democrats that are far more conservitive but not as much as the republicans. To me they go more on common sense and morals the the older Dems but still willing to help out everyone.

That is who I'm going to be looking at in the next 2 yrs.

Holy Crap!! Invisible agents indeed.
It was not a stroke it was "an intracerebral bleed caused by a congenital arteriovenous malformation. He underwent successful surgery to evacuate the blood and stabilize the malformation."

He's had surgery and is in critical condition.

Great quote from his wife: But, she said of the hospital, "we keep reminding ourselves, this is where they take Dick Cheney."

...So it's a robot repair shop?

LOL, you have no idea of my political views, and because of a single comment, you label me as an ultra-left-wing-liberal. To me, it sounds like anyone who isn't an ultra-right-wing-conservative is automatically an evil leftist pinko monster in the eyes of any conservative Republican.

I'm a conservative republican and I don't automatically label a Democrat as an Ultra left wing Liberal. Although when I say I'm a Christian and I state my values many Liberals are quick to label me as an ultra right wing "neo-con" (most overused nonsense word ever).

I believe a persons actions should speak for themselves. For example: Disagreeing with the President doesn't make you unpatriotic, but comparing George Bush to Hitler and Stalin makes you a moron if you know anything about history.

Also Comparing the US troups "torture" of enemy combatants to The Gulags and such as Dick Durbin did makes me think a lot of Liberals just have a weird and twisted world view.

I think there are plenty of radicals no both sides, and sometimes I think the moderates are no better because they really don't stand for anything and sorta just go where the popular wind blows.

I think we should be able to have civil debate over our differences and be able to reach agreeable compromises or just agree to disagree.

I also think that too many people love spouting off about all the problems America have but ask them if they have a viable (non wacko) solution and they have nothing but hateful rhetoric.

The integrity and common sense has been stripped from our political process and I think that until we as people show by our votes that we won't take all this BS from either side of the aisle, we'll continue to get more of the same.

Here's a challenge, go here: http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html , take the test, post your results. Mine are below. I'll bet that you're to the left of me, and since you didn't define what YOU think "ultra-left-wing-liberal" means, we'll leave it open for people to draw their own conclusions. Oh yeah, please be honest on the test ;)

BTW, I really would rather have not replied, since I am certain it is fruitless, but I just couldn't leave your duplicity unanswered.
