Pi$$ed Off

Pissed Off

Went to best buy today and i got home and found a dent and the paint scratched off the passenger rear door. Is it worth going to a body shop and getting it fixed or is there something else i can do.

Was your car in the parking lot or getting work done to it? If they were working on it I would be calling the manger @ Worst Buy and asking him how he plans to handle this BIG problem. If he starts w/ the dumbass act (and I'm sure he will) ask to talk to his boss. If he does the dumbass routine as well, ask to speak w/ his boss and so on and so on. Eventually you will get someone who cares. If this doesn't happen (I have only had to use this line once in my life but it worked) When your talking to the manger's boss's boss's boss, tell him you will take the money you would typically use to fix the damage THEY caused and take out a full page ad in the USA Today and tell your story. They usually find it in their best intrest to give you the money to fix your car.

Sorry to hear about your car man, good luck.

Have you seen the rates for a full page ad in USA today????

If I could afford that, I would just buy a new Mazda 3 every time it got a scratch, or I would be driving something else a lot nicer :-) and pay somoene to go to Best Buy for me.

Full page Mon-Thur: $82,900 (B&W) $125,100 (Color) Fri: $100,290 (B&W) $152,600 (Color)

Try....

...the local paper. It will work just fine.

I would guess that 99% of all stores have written policies that they aren't liable for damage or theft in their parking lots. I think that's reasonable too, given that Best Buy didn't actually DO anything to the car - one of their patrons did...

Personally, I would hit any open areas metal areas with touch up paint. If it's a small ding, run by a 'dent doctor' type place - sometimes you can get dings pulled for less than $50.

If it's bigger than that, I'd live with it for a while... Or keep an eye out for a new door (assuming the dent is on the door) on Ebay - might be cheaper to find a whole new door than to have the current one fixed and repainted...

JMHO.

I didn't ASSUME that a patron did it. His thread starter wasn't specific as to how the dent occured (parking lot vs. stereo install shop). It's obvious that Best Buy won't cover dents occuring in their parking lots BUT they are responsible for the one's that occur in the stereo install shop.

Sorry to hear about your dent, I feel your pain

I was washing my wife's car yesterday and our stoopid blonde neighbor backed into the car and dented the passenger door.

I went to a body shop today and the estimate was $1,750!
