I played paintball for a whole summer two years ago. Then i got sick of running around in the woods getting the s*** beat out of me by paintballs and blowing $20 every time on them. Sold one gun, kept the other...Never used it for a year and sold it...Week later some asshat kid tried rolling a softball across the road to make me drive over it...Wanted to cap him with the PBgun, remembered I didnt have it anymore...

Moral of the story, paintball guns are only good for be able to shoot assholes w/o going to jail.

Im wierd like that. I dont like getting hurt(paintballs dont hurt that much but they do leave nice marks) and I dont like getting dirty(nothing to do with paintball but just the other thing in life I dont like.)

end rant :D

I'd definetly be up for paintball. haven't played since I left MO. just remember to wear a full set of coveralls, or second layer of clothing to remove afterward. also more layers hurt less. although the really painful spots (where I've got hit before) are top of head, neck, and nuckles, all relatively unprotected.

F'ing A! You guys shoot eachother in the head??! Damn. I'd be down for this but I have no gun or equipment. Do you have to buy/bring your own or do they have the stuff there?

most good paintball ranges rent guns and safety gear (aka full face mask)
unfortunately all the mask covers is your face, ears and sometimes neck. it doesn't cover top or back of head.

Renting equipment is the best way for a beginner. there are some fairly cheap guns, but the good ones that are MUCH more reliable (very important) are more expensive (200-2K) Renting not too expensive, but the part that adds up is the balls. you easily go through 200+ (one hopper full) per game (more if it isn't short -usually 2-3 hoppers) and buy them in bags of 1000. I can't say actual prices, since I haven't done it in a while, and it varies for the ranges.

btw, body shots are preferable, head shots discouraged for safety sake, but they happen. when your target is hiding behind a box, the easiest way to hit them is get their head when they pop up for a look around. feet count too. you get hit anywhere and the ball breaks (sometimes they don't - hurts more actually) you are "dead" and out of play

I've always wanted to try it but I'm sure I'd be out within the first 5 minutes! How long do games usually last? So if I was "dead" how long on average would it be before I could get back in?

it depends on the size of the playing field, number of people, skill level, and if other groups are waiting. some matches end real quick (1min), some drag on (20+min).

once one team is completely eliminated, you can either start playing again imediatatly, or wait a bit to rest. if there are multiple groups, your team may have to wait its turn for a while, it depend on how the field operates.

the actual paintballs can get pretty expensive...there are cheap onnes though.

I used to use Marbalizers or JT Xtremes which were like $25 per 500.

You can get some cheapo Brass Eagles for $20 per 1000 probably.

But in the end its gonna cost you a good $50 or more for a day of paintball between renting the equipment, paying for the play time, and buying paint.

if youre playing with a real crowd you need a fast enough gun to keep up
I don't know too many people who used 500 rounds in a day of games. Its easy enough to use 500 in a single game, with 6-7 games in a day

that said I've sold all my tourney gear and play with a stock class pump gun....and still can whip all your asses (laugh)

haha come down to VA to play

(lol) funny guy. I used to have a Spyder Shutter, which I thought was the best, then two of my friends got an autococker and an Angel. I think getting hit by their guns contributed to me quitting the sport (rofl)
