So I've read the instructions
Searched the forums
Read http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123840616-Pioneer-AVH-4000-NEX-Install
- I do see that post is from a year ago though, so the adapter may have been updated

.... but continue to not be sure, and want to be since who wants to have to do something twice?

No backup cam
No navigation
No bose

Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS

From what I see I only need to connect the...
1 - orange/white's that are split by default on the adapter(from instructions: Mazda CX-5 - This unit must use the orange/white wire in the interface connector for illumination)
-I did see in the post link above that the orange/white was not needed, but instructions state to
2 - blue wire on the antenna adapter to the blue wire of the PAC adapter

Since I don't have cam or nav, the rest just plugs in to the main piece.

So for anyone that has done this, am I missing anything!?

There was a reference in the link posted to connecting the blue wire to the green/white wire(both on adapter) to make the bluetooth button on the steering wheel work. I'm unsure if that's still the case.
Should I hook up the ground? If so where?

Thanks!

Hoping to get around to this over the weekend with just the orange/white, and blue interface/blue antenna adapter wires.

Will update with how it goes in case anyone else tries to do this in the future with similar setup.

So this ended up being a huge pain. Crutchfield said that the adapter changed from the one they have on file, not sure on that accuracy.

What ended up being the case vs what I thought:
90% of it really was just match the colors
RCA's on the speaker wires need to be removed and wired strait to the head unit or the speakers don't get proper power
Blue power antenna wire on the antenna adapter does NOT work when wired to the blue adapter wire as instructed in documentation. Called crutchfield today and said to try wiring it to the blue/white on the adapter.(I'm currently getting horrid reception)
All adapter wires were used withe the exception of: Grouped navigation wires(3 of them, I don't have nav), green/white, and either the blue or blue/white as referenced above
Found out that the head unit parking break wire needs to be connected or you can't access bluetooth system settings(phone can connect to head unit, but head unit won't save this as a trusted device so it re-sends confirmation code every time the car turns on multiple times)
Voice command, and phone pickup/hangup steering wheel controls don't work. They don't even register when pressed on the adapter LED(I tried multiple times to custom the button config)
-Has anyone got these to function with the adapter? I didn't see it listed that this would be lost so I'm questioning if I did something wrong

Orange/white wires: With these connected it will dim the unit when your headlights are on. I may disconnect this though as I'd prefer it bright and there's no option to change this on the head unit

Side note: I wired the mic all the way around to where the stock mic was held. I'm told it sounds like I'm not even using in car audio, so this unit/mic has great performance in this regard.

Just got off the phone with crutchfield again and they said that the buttons may work by wiring the blue/white to the green/white on the adapter/interface. The instructions in this regard are not clear because the step indicating this references "with factory navigation".

So crutchfields suggestion
blue/white+green/white on interface/adapter to allow missing steering wheel buttons to work
Blue power antenna to blue/white on head unit to resolve reception issues

This will be a job for the upcoming weekend, as well as the front speaker installs.

I don't have the MP4 paperwork in front of me... (and it sounds like you have a different revision of the adapter anyway.. mine didn't have RCA plugs.)

The antenna adapter should have two "wires" coming out of it. One is a plug that goes into the HU. The other needs to be connected to wiring harnesses on whatever wire is used amp turn-on, OR ACC power. (The idea is to just supply 12v to the antenna when the radio is turned on.)

The steering wheel controls DO need the wires marked as navigation to be hooked up properly.

You are correct on the speaker connections. The irony is that if you had the bose amp, you'd have to leave the RCA's attached and plug them into the HU's line level out (as opposed to the non-bose where those same wires are used without the RCA's for speaker level outs.)

Good luck
Gary
