P5 engine question

I have a 02 p5 5speed. It's a jm vin and I want to buy an engine to rebuild, turbocharge and play with but I'm reading about all the fs and types of engines that are in the protege, so my question is: based on my vin number how do I know what F type engine is in my car now? I haven't found a vin decoder that can explain this far all I now it that the car is made in japan. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance p5 family.

the engine is a FSDE 02-03 protege5 and i believe 99-03 protege as long as its a 2.0 it is the exact same engine that is in the mazdaspeed protege which is a FSDE-T T for turbo.. the turbo kit is a bolt on kit but the engnine internals are exactly the same as the non turbo engine such as the one in ur our cars... any other 2.0 from earlier years will fit but they are not as strong internally and some heads have a distributer hole.
