just how often do rx8 engines flood?

and hypothetically if u ****** up the engine..say blow it somehow...how much do u think repairs would cost and where to take it to get repaired?

Flooding varies. Most (I would say 98%) flood their engines because they shutoff the engine while it is cold. Mazda has provided instructions for shutting off the engine *IF* it is not up to temp. They have also released a TSB for thos who do flood it. You will get an update (strong) battery, updated starter, fresh plugs and a pcm flash. I have all the above and I have only had hard starts on rare occasions. No flooding for me though.

If you screw your engine up, you may have to find a rotary specialists in your area. Depends on what you do to mess it up, lets say FI...

flooding is pretty much not a problem anymore....you can still do it if your an idiot, just remeber dont shut the car off untill its warmed up. (5mins or so)

if you blow the motor, it will be covered under warranty if the car is stock...if the car modified thats up to your dealer if they want to cover it.

You can get a rebuilt motor for 2500 bucks with the core exchange, otherwise its 3500 bucks.....not to bad.

Most of the time with a rotary you blow an apex seal, if its not bad you can resurface the rotor housing (sometimes replace the rotor) and put new seals in it, maby 500-1000 bucks with parts and labor.....if its bad, you need to replace the housing and everything, that can be like 2k.
