Opinions on MS3

How do ya'll like your MS3's? I love the way they look and heard they handle like a dream and other good things, but i want some first hand opinions of owners, because you all know better than anyone else. So tell me what you think, what you like, dislike, hate, love, etc, etc.
thanks

I've had mine for about 2 weeks and 500 miles. I have a MS3 Sport ed without all the bells and whistles (no NAV/leather/etc.) Things I like about it-

I love the way it sounds when I start it in the morning. It reminds me of the Porsche 914 I had in high school, playful yet serious. I love the way the steering wheel fits my hands and the way the seat feels on my back. The gages look great and once i'm buckled in the car fits me like a glove. Out on the road I feel like a wolf in sheep's clothing. The car is deceptively fast. If you get into 3rd at 4k rpm on a city street you are well into jail time type speeds. Other Mazda drivers will notice your car, especially guys who drive Miatas but most people don't pay much attention to it. On the highway it is stable at speed (but i've never had it over 90) and it makes it easy to really smash the speed limit. All in all it is a joy to drive and i've had no major issues. Oh and it gets warm REALLY fast... have good heat within a couple of blocks. The trick of turning on the trip computer was really cool, i was bummed it didn't have that off the lot.

What I don't like so far-
The stereo sucks and is build into the dash making aftermarket replacement harder. Premium gas is expensive and the MPG is not great (probably somewhat my fault with the heavy foot) I'm averaging 17mpg i think. It runs rich so there is a lot of black soot that covers the tail pipe. The wheels are hard to clean and get brake dusty with a quickness. It does attract attention from ricers lol. I've had several modded crap-mobiles chase me around revving their engines at me.

i have a loaded gt, with nav.

i like it alot, i dont like that the navigation is limited to joystick control. and the only other thing is that i dont like how the throttle plate closes at around 6000rpms, cutting power... it wasnt as noticable at first, but now its just down right annoying. however, shifting at 5500, i still have every bit of power, and stay in the powerband, so ill get over it.

maybe the accessport will cover the throttle plate, and someone will figure out how to add a microphone to the nav to make it voice command.

I've had my GT since Halloween and I'm in love. Here's something that I wrote last night about it....call me semimental....I mean sentimental.......I don't care.

To my precious:)

You are a big part of my life,
And I just want you to know,
You help me through the strife,
And the days that really blow,

When I slide into your cockpit,
My fate is in your hands,
We’re the perfect fit,
I will follow your demands,

Your power encompasses my soul,
And takes me to a different plane,
When I feel your pull,
It moves me toward insane,

I might not know where we’re going,
But I always know where we’ve been,
When I look into the rearview,
And I see my ridiculous grin.

(rofl) I'd never think to write a poem about a car.

But seriously, the car is awesome!

I love the car but it still feels big to me, perhaps the 3000lb + cb weight.

Also it smells like cheese.................... wait........ that's the Vista Cruiser sorry.

Great car, problems and all.

had mine a couple weeks now and have about 730 miles on it. I hae an 07 GT with everything except Nav(didnt want it).Im still "breaking it in" but overall i am extremely happy with it! Not alot that i dont like about the car. The few things that are very minor and easily fixable and i almost enjoy having to fix them are the short powerband, heavy wheels(normal for stock rims) and the uselessness of 1st gear lol

I love the car...ive always owned v8s rwd cars..so this one is totally opposite..its alot of fun and gets alot of looks..something about it tho..i dont want to drive it all the time, so i decided to get a 600 gsxr for my everyday driving..maybe its the gas prices that are pissing me off..but i highly recommend it to anyone that wants to have a fun ride...

Love the car. Had minimal problems that weren't self induced. Most mods add major torque that you can feel. Its sleek, refined and a beast at the same time.

I don't like the stereo, current exhaust options (yes i know those aren't stock), current EMS options (yes i know those aren't stock), and that's about it. I luv it.

My last car was an ford expedition, so the gas savings...

and were else can you go new for $25k or less and have this much fun, well driving?

When it comes to asking how good the ms3 is you need to figure out what kind of car you need? Basically since you need to put premium in the car you are getting 18 mpg if you had a car or jeep that used regular. Also I'm easily tempted by the power this car has so I find I usually cruise at 90 vs. 70 in my truck. Just because the car gets there easily and feels perfectly stable. Good luck with your decision.

I got a sport, the same day I test drove the MS3 I also drove the MS6 and 06 WRX. The MS3 was the best, hands down. I love everything about this car, the brakes, the interior, the seats, the looks and the power, oh my God! today I found myself wasting tires in 2nd even though the ecu reduce TQ in 1st & 2nd.
The only thing that got me worry a little is the engine mount issue. Go and test drive one...... you will be surprised!

One of the things i hate about my car now is that it has a torque managment system in the low RPM's of first gear and that the throttle cuts out on the high end. Is there a way to tune that out on the MS3? One other thing i absolutely hate about my car is even when the air is off and my vents are closed and the engine is hot, it spews hot air through the tranny tunnel and through the vents and defrost vents. Does the MS3 have this problem? Also, does it have problems hooking up since it is FWD? Thanks again this thread is helpful

Not to thread jack, but this was happening to me so I set my ac system on recirc and it doesn't happen anymore.

I drive alot...for work

I've had my MS3 for a month now. Already have 2300 miles on it (I drive alot for work) I agree with the first responder in the post. The car is fun to get into. I like everything about it. I do agree that 1st & 2nd gear could use some work to get that power there. The black soot on the tail pipe is a minor nuisance. 93 octane is starting to impact the wallet, until I remember I can expense it (woo-hoo!) I've had the car to 120 cruising a backroad (for about an hour at speed) it handles like a dream.

You do have to ask yourself, what you want out of your car. I need the hatch to carry various equipment around in. I have wanted the turbo since my days in the P5.

If I told you my girlfriend wants to do the nasty in it and I refuse, does that make me a bad guy? I don't want to mess up the car!! LOL!

I'm approaching 40 years now and I think this car fits my needs completely. Sure I could go out and buy a rocket, or an SUV, or a Lux mobile, but I wanted this car and I am happy...

Hope that helps you in your decision.

(oh, it DOES get all the ricers on you wanting to race, so expect that as a given)
