2017~2025: Opinions on Continental CrossContact LX25 vs Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3

:
2016 CX-5 Touring AWD
2019 CX-5 Reserve AWD
Need new tires soon and narrowed it down to these two. Anybody run either and have any comments on them?

I put the LX25'S on my car about 2K miles ago and can report that the ride quality is much better than the Toyo's. Handling is excellent and the performance specs and reviews are much better than the Toyo's.

I put a on set of LX25s about a year ago. They seem pretty good to me. Quiet and the treads are deep so I expect good life.

Pirelli make great tires but many of their tires including the Scorpion AS plus 3 have an "H" speed rating. If you look at the sticker on their tires it says not to use a tire with a lower speed rating than recommended by the vehicles manufacturer. CX-5's (at least the GT) come with a "V" speed rating. Now, I know that CX-5 drivers are unlikely to ever get up to the 130 mph speed that an "H" rated tire is safe to do, BUT, if you use an "H" rated Pirelli and have a tire issue requiring your dealer to replace the tire, they would have every right to deny it based on Pirelli's warning on the tire sticker and your vehicle door sticker says to use a "V" rated tire.

P.S. I'd go for the LX 25's because not only are they highly rated they also come with a "V" speed rating on their 225/55/19. If I'm not mistaken, if your vehicle comes standard with 17" tires then an "H" rated tire is what Mazda recommends so the Pirelli would work.

The 19" Pirelli is V rated. Seems the comparison between these comes down to nuances. I'm looking at these two, along with the Vredestein Quatrac Pro. All of them are very good. To me, it seems to come down to:

Pirelli - Refined, slightly better overall ride quality, most expensive of the three. 70k warranty
Vredestein - Significantly better wet traction, slightly more noise. Least expensive. 50k warranty
Continental - Competent in all areas, favored on this forum. 65k warranty (V rated tire)

I'm probably leaning towards the Pirelli at the moment.

OP, what did you decide?

You are indeed correct....my bad. I have been watching the Pirelli 19" line up off and on in recent years and from my recollection all 19" models(in the recent past) have been H rated. The Scorpion AS plus 3 is new as of May this year so this might be Pirelli's first V rated 19" tire.

You're right to pay attention to that. The Cinturato P7 AS Plus II looks like another good tire, until you realize that it's H rated.

Went with the Continentals for our 19 GTR. Have a couple thousand miles on them and no complaints. Decent ride, good handling.
Have the Scorpions on our 16 Touring and no complaints there either.

As far as H vs V ratings I got the tires from the Mazda dealer and they didn't say anything so if I have a problem with the Scorpions I would expect them to honor the warranty.
