This isn't really for my P5 but I'm suspicious the crowd is right...
I know many of you have replaced seats eitehr in your P5 or other cars.
I'm looking for an OE seat, or aftermarket bracket mfr, that has a long travel to it. E.g. long distance between most forward and rearward.
This commonly comes up either (a) for guys that have looooong legs or (b) small 2dr cars that are difficult to get into the back.
This is going in my 4Runner, which has only 2 drs and backseat access is a real PITA.
I don't even care about the seat per se, but the bracket mechanism - I have a racing seat I can put in, but the sliidng bracket on it has only 5.5" travel.
Ideally I'd like 8-8-12 or so.
i just want to be able to slide it way forward (onto the steering wheel).

Any tips/

my last car was a 2000 Grand Prix 2dr. the passenger side seat was great for a couple of reasons.

A) Lots of forward travel
B) no "lever" to move the seat forward. just pull the seatback forward and the whole seat slides. It was made to do this. great feature. but still "locked" in the upright position when driving or in case of accident. I loved it, didnt take any pressure to move.

The drivers side was all power and didn't have the travel you are looking for. Plus I think you can pick em up pretty cheap in leather or cloth.

They were extremely comfortable seats.

Here are a couple pics of the seat. they are two tone because of the pace car package. The other ones you find will probably be solid graphite.

I have a 2001 VW GTI, and the seats in that move well out of the way to allow easy rear seat access. Both front seats lift up and forward. I'll post pictures of the movement if I can find any.

I think I know what what you mean, but pics would be cool.
The older Jeep seats were on hinges so the whole thing would kind of lunge forward.
Those are really tallt though so they won't fit.

I'll try to get a picture tomorrow. I spent most of today installing a header in the P5, so I didn't get a chance yet.

oh yeah. forgot about those GTI seats. didn't make much of a difference for me. I'm a big guy and still didn't have a whole lot of room to get in/out of the back of my sisters 1.8t. IMO the B pillar needed to be pushed back a couple more inches on that car.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of the GTI seats (they're from my phone just before dusk, so hopefully the quality is good enough). You can see that the whole seat cushion lifts and moves forward a bit.
