OBD and Emissions Tests

I just took my car to a local garage for its first PA inspection and emissions test, which now involves an OBD check of newer vehicles. When I got my car back, the test results page stated that the computer was unable to communicate with my OBD system and that I needed to rectify the situation ASAP. I called a local Mazda dealer and they said that the state is the one which has the problem; their system can't communicate with Mazda3 vehicles (they supposedly have problems with the 6 and RX-8 as well).

Just so I am sure I won't have any problems next time, can anyone support this? I know other states use OBD emissions tests as well.

do'h.... leave it to mazda.... good luck man and keep us posted on the outcome...

Probably something to do with the communication bus that Mazda uses. Ask the garage if their equipment supports the CAN bus. If it doesn't, tell them to get their s*** updated!

Does your dealer do inspections?

They do, but I refuse to go back to my dealer after they tried to charge me $50 for an oil change and left trash in my car. Otherwise, the nearest dealer is out of the way for me and my place of employment. I called that dealer after the inspection and that's how I found out about the inherent issue with Mazdas.
