Well I finally hooked up the MAP sensor tonight, and let me tell you, the car drives much smoother than before. Drives just like stock when not in boost. When I nail the gas, I am gone!! I need to retune my fuel map, but the outlook is promising!!

(second) Glad to see you took my advice from over a year ago. :) Simple to tune this way, isn't it? Hopefully more people will start listening to me about it now. The easiest way to use the MPI tuner is...

-with an FM clamp
-with extra injectors, controlling only those injectors
-with a MAP sensor to sense boost
-to retard timing where necessar
-with a FCD, if necessary

Happy tuning.

Great news!!!

Glad that thing is working good for you and I hope your stubborn PCM holds this time.:)

I now understand...

The MAP sensor only activates under boost, so the car is on stock maps until boost hits, and then the extra injectors kick in and do their job. With the MAF sensor that used to be hooked up, the MPI was constantly fighting and trying to fool the stock ECU, even OUT of boost.

Hiboost likes MAP sensors so much, they sent me two.

Actually, I recieved two of a bunch of things...

My idle is still a little rough, especially when it's cold. I gotta futz with it.

Yeah, I checked. The car was still running bad. I know now that it had a lot to do with the MAF sensor being controled by both the MPI and the stock ECU (******* OBDII (pissed) ). The smoothness of stock has returned to my car outside of boost..

So, you're running MAP only, or MAP and a MAF for the stock ECU? I'm going to be running a MAP with my independant throttle bodies, which is why I was curious.

MAF is back to stock, and MAP is controlling the extra injectors. FM voltage clamp is in there too.

Yeah, I just need to tune it now. I still will be going with a Stand Alone one day...
You better get this thing down before you go with a stand alone. A standalone will be more work if you don't get it pretuned.

dude, Pat, I'm happy you are finally getting this all worked out... now install your FMIC biznatch!

Well if I go to stand alone, the MPI won't matter because it will be another system all together.
