It's time for me to replace my worn out OEM tires finally and I need some help choosing the new meat. I will be doing a full season of auto-x and probably a couple road race days this summer. I will not have a second set so I need something that is "acceptable" for commuting duties. My snow tires come off soon so I need to make my choice in the very near future.

I think I have it narrowed down to these three; if you have a better option at a comparable price or know one of these sizes won't work please let me know.

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT - 225/45ZR-17 or 215/45-17XL http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?c=4&cf=false&sw=false&cs=225&pc=38252&rd=17&ar=45&tc=YOKSQ5
(Here for specs - http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/g-force-t-a-kdw/22.html)

Kumho Ecsta MX - 225/45-ZR17

Toyo Proxes RA1 - 205/40-ZR17

These are likely more than I want to pay but I can't find them online so I don't know.

Thanks,

RA1's are too soft for a daily driver IMHO.

I have read good reviews of both the MX and G-Force.

I say go with the one that fits the budget better, assuming the BFG's are more $

Oh, and go with the stock size of 215-45-17

I've gotten really good wear and performance (both wet and dry) out of Hankook Ventus Z212. With street and autocross I got about 25,000 miles each out of 2 sets. The third set I've driven on I got about 5000 miles and 13 track days. I still have about 1/3 tread left on them. On the track, pushing hard it took about 17 minutes for 225/45/16s to start feeling greasy which is about the same as it took for my 215/40/16 V710s. If you're not like me and you actually do a warm-up lap you'll never feel it in a normal 20 minute session.
