New MSP owner in the Charlotte area

Hi all...

I live in Concord and I just bought a MSP 2003.5 or at least I think that is what it is from what I have read. The dealer I bought it from is not even a Mazdaspeed certified shop so I have to bring it to Belmont where I work to have it worked on which isn't a big deal. I do have a couple of concerns with the new ride. I do have "the knock" coming from the back end which I have read is not really fixable but bushings can help. My concern is my entire undercarriage. When I pull out of my driveway in reverse, it makes a popping sound, and this can't be normal. It also sounds like it drags or bottoms out when driving slow over regular dips on the streets around the neighborhood. That normal? Hell any help in the right direction would be great. I love this car already but I have to get this stuff straightened out.

Who else is in the area? Mine's Yellow so you might catch me zoomin' down I-85 twice a day like a maniac.

WOO HOO welcome to the club bro! Another fellow Blazing Yellow MSP owner here....all of the above problems that you mentioned are 'normal' the noises that you are hearing from the rear may also be the rear bushings....a problem we all have....damn Mazda! There are a several of us around the Charlotte area, Matthews, Mooresville.....where do i stop lol anyway hit me up man, we can all get up sometime. WELCOME MY FRIEND!

Do you live at or were you at Campus Edge by UNCC 2 weeks ago. I parked Next to a yello speed with a turbo bdage on the trunk, Looked clean.

Glad to meet you! Looks like I found me a good forum to visit 5 times a day or so.. heh. So back to my original concern. When I turn and go forward or backwards, it makes a hell of a popping noise, almost scary. I fear I have something seriously wrong in the front end. Suggestions? And what shop (dealership) do you guys use? I'm looking for a good support shop for me to bring mine. You guys ever meet up?

I live in Concord very close to HWY 49 so I travel that road daily on the way home and go right past UNCC. I've only had the car a week so it wasn't me you saw, but maybe you will! Glad to meet you.

actually we use Montgomery Mazda (off of Independence) good dealership to go to....and yea we get up alot actually...shoot me a PM and we can exchange numbers..

Yes, i slipped away in the middle of the night on sat, and we went to the mall early sat morning. I was back this weekend, didnt see that car, i looked. i might be back sunday, dont know yet.

So... this popping noise I have when I turn sharply... ?? And yeah, I'de love to meet everyone. This brings me back to the days when I used to be in a low-rider club in Mississippi called Innovative Trends. Back in the saddle! You guys will have to keep me up to speed on cars shows and such. I'm ready to get back into the thick of it all again.

Me and at least one of my friends are supposed to be going out this weekend. Probably Saturday night to go have some drinks for a while. Not sure where yet. Probably in the Concord area I would imagine. I'm 31, married, 2 wonderful kids, so I don't get out much to get lose. I can't wait to take some road trips to some kickass car shows this year.

cv joint.. ball bearings??? I've even heard that it can be nuts loose by the sway bars. Get the car on jacks and check underneath for anything loose near the axles and wheels.
