Pls Help Me!!

Hey guys/gals, there's something weird going on with my car, might not be a big deal, but just to be on the safe side.. I wanted to let you guys know just in case it's something little or something big...

My car is still "fairly" brand new, i have about almost 800 miles on it already, and whenever i rev the car 4k rpm or more, it starts to smell really nasty... I know what clutch smells like, and i know it's not the clutch.. It stinks really bad, like something died in my air vent or something... then the smell goes away after a little while... BUT, when im driving hard like a high rpms, it doesnt seem to smell at all... It's been like that since i got it.. wtf is that????

Just wondering if you guys would know what that smell could be.. Or if i should take it back to the dealership to get it checked..

Thanks guys for any thoughts and inputs!

Peace,
RJ

Does it smell like rotten eggs (sulfur)? If so, it is probably coming from your catalytic converter and is nothing to worry about. You could try switching brands of gas to see if it helps.

Thats odd. I know my car doesnt have stinky cats, you would be able to smell that with a simple idle test in your driveway. You say its coming out of your vents? Dealer visit wouldnt hurt.

It kinda does smell like rotten eggs... So everything is going to be ok, right? I've been using Chevron (w/Techron) 91 octane, never used anything else.. I should try using a different gas brand? Are you sure that might be the problem? Thanks man i really appreciate it!

new cars always stink wierd...everything under the hood and tranny etc gets hot

there is nothing to worry about at all. I know the exact smell you are speaking of!! my car smelled like that for about the first 1200 miles. It goes away eventually.

Yep Mine stunk some kinda bad for the first couple thousand miles . Some junk they put on the under body they said. "Its supposed to burn off " is what the salesman told me before I ever stepped foot in the car...

It might just be your tires spinning at 4k though : )

LMAO!! thanks guys, now i know that i have nothing to worry about.. i thought it was something big.. lol

101 octane does sound nice... can you really tell the difference tho?
Hey Kyle and Nick, when are we gonna finally meet up?

Peace,

even though your putting 91 octane the required octane i believe is 93 octane which is regulation high test. and yes, you would tell a dif at 101 octane. NASCAR engines burn 110-octane leaded gasoline. (leaded gasoline is banned from your every day gas pump for obvious reasons.)
Indy cars burn pure methanol. Methanol can run at extremely high compression ratios (meaning more power). 110-octane gasoline also handles high compression well. So really, the more explosive the gas, the higher the compression points, the better the power. Thats created by a higher octane.

If im wrong here somebody correct me, but i think thats basically how it works. haha.
