Well after driving the CX-5, CRV, RAV4, and Forester two times each, my wife decided on the CX-5. We drove the Escape once but we did not like it enough to rate a second drive. In the end we narrowed it down to the CX-5 and the CRV. The CX-5 was was narrowly our favorite. It was just a matter of getting a good deal on the CX-5. True car quotes were only giving $800 off of sticker. The CRV had some good pricing in its favor. Our local dealer had a football field full of them. After getting some internet quotes and finding some newspaper ads from a dealer about 50 miles away, we were able to get our dealer to move on the price. We bought a 2015 white Touring AWD a couple of weeks ago.
We almost crossed the CX-5 off after our first drive. They supply in NE Ohio is tight and the Tourings seem to fly off the lot. Our dealer had two that had just come in and had not been prepped yet. They grabbed one and let us drive it a miles or so down the road. It rode like a rock. Our salesman was on another test drive so another salesman took us for a ride. The next day I was telling our salesman about the rough ride. After talking for while I asked him about the tire pressure. He said that when the CX-5 is shipped they over inflate the tires for transit. We came back a couple of days later and drove the CX-5 again. This time, the car had been prepped and the tires were set to the correct pressure. Huge difference, we were really impressed this time.
